LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Johnny Depp sustained a painful ankle injury that has resulted in the postponement of his performance for his band 'Hollywood Vampires.' The 59-year-old actor's lower-body injury took place while he was at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his film Jeanne Du Barry earlier this month.

According to an insider, Depp "stressed" the injury "further while trying to power through" at a tribute show for legendary guitarist Jeff Beck who died at the age of 78. The source added that his "ankle is fractured and his medical team has instructed him not to fly for the foreseeable future," according to TMZ. The father-of-two will not be able to perform for his band's three shows scheduled in June for New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.

Confirming the postponement of the band's upcoming tour, the 'Edward Scissorhands' actor and his bandmates Joe Perry and Alice Cooper announced on Instagram that their first three US tour dates will be rescheduled.

"We are sad to share that the 'Hollywood Vampires' will be rescheduling our three US tour dates this coming week,' the band revealed in their post. Johnny has sustained a painful injury to his ankle following his recent appearances and has been advised by his doctor not to travel," the group revealed.

"He is devastated by this turn of events, but looks forward to resting up so all four vampires can bring their absolute best to the tour in Europe," the band added.

Who are the 'Hollywood Vampires'?

To honor rock stars who died in the 1970s, 'Hollywood Vampires' was formed in 2012 by Perry, Cooper, and Depp who performed cover songs in their initial phase. Previously, the 'Public Enemies' actor and Beck toured together and also recorded an album. With an eclectic mix of cover songs from different range of performers, including John Lennon, Beach Boys, The Velvet Ground, Killing Joke, and Marvin Gaye, the duo made a 13-track collection, according to Daily Mail.

Talking about the album, Beck said, "When Johnny and I started playing together, it really ignited our youthful spirit and creativity. We would joke about how we felt 18 again so that just became the album title too," reported Billboard.
