Johnny Depp accused Amber Heard of affair with 'rapey' James Franco, heard 'howling like animal' in shocking audio
A court heard a shocking audio recording that featured Johnny Depp howling "like an animal" after he allegedly attacked Amber Heard over accusations that she had cheated on him with James Franco during their marriage.
On day 2 of Depp's libel trial, he was questioned about "the Boston plane incident" which had taken place in 2014. During that incident, Depp allegedly attacked his former wife on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles, Daily Mail reports. It is believed that Depp had taken cocaine, whiskey, pills and champagne after which he had eventually passed out in the toilet of the plane. The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star has denied screaming at Heard that she "liked getting f****d on set" and making other vile comments as he accused her of sleeping with Franco.
Depp had also claimed that he was worried about the 'Pineapple Express' actor as Heard had described him as being "creepy and rapey" when they starred in the film. He added how Heard had told him that she had to "run from Franco's advances" when the two filmed the stoner comedy.
The 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' actor went into detail on his suspicions regarding Heard's infidelity and said, "She told me many things that were very negative about Mr Franco that he had tried to kiss her (after the filming of 'Pineapple Express') and made sexual advances on her in that film she said he was a creep and a rapist or whatever."
Sasha Wass QC, The Sun's lawyer, questioned him, "A rapist? She didn't use that word surely? You've made an extremely important statement just now. You made that up on the spot didn't you?" Depp responded saying, "No it's just a word that came out to describe what she said to me, him leaning in saying I'm going to kiss you now and she had to run from his advances at one point and he was kind of non-stop and she felt he was creepy and rapey was the word."
"If I said the word rapist then it's because rapey was the word she used. I suspected Ms Heard was having an affair with Mr Franco and it's since been confirmed that she was," Depp added.
A 2018 article by The Sun had dubbed the actor as a "wife-beater", leading to him suing the publication for libel. He, in turn, denied ever being violent or raising a hand at Heard. Depp is suing News Group Newspapers (NGN), publishers of The Sun, regarding the story.
Wass said that Depp had made "vulgar references to (Ms Heard's) genitalia" and had also called her a "go-getter sl**" in front of crew members on the flight. The audio recording that showed Depp apparently howling was played for the court to hear. Wass told Depp that it was him in the recording, to which he responded saying, "I had drunk alcohol prior on the flight but my behavior was not as alleged… I was drawing art sketches in my notebook."
Wass had also shared a text that the actor had sent his friend Paul Bettany that read, "I'm going to properly stop the booze thing, darling. Drank all night before I picked Amber up to fly to LA this past Sunday. Ugly mate. No food for days. Powders. Half a bottle of whiskey. A thousand red bull and vodkas, pills, 2 bottles of champers on plane, and what do you get?"
