Johnny Depp has settled his case brought upon by a crew member of 'City of Lies', Gregg 'Rocky' Brooks. The 2017 on-set assault allegations were turning out to be the second high-profile lawsuit that Depp would have been involved in the same year. He previously fought in court with ex-wife Amber Heard over defamation charges and was awarded $15 million overall. However, the actor has saved himself some crucial time by settling this case.

The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star was set to go to court on July 25 in Los Angeles but reached a settlement with Brooks on Monday, July 11. The 58-year-old actor was sued by Brooks in July 2018, over the claims that he assaulted the location manager. Brooks also accused Depp of acting violently under the influence of substances. A notice of settlement was filed on Monday, July 11, but the terms were not released. A hearing to dismiss the case is scheduled for February 16, 2023. In a filing in Los Angeles Superior Court, Brooks’ lawyer Arbella Azizian said a settlement had been reached. As per THR, the court documents read, "The settlement agreement conditions dismissal of this matter on the satisfactory completion of specified terms that are not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement. A request for dismissal will be filed no later than 1/5/2023.”

Brooks was the location manager for the 2018 crime-thriller 'City of Lies' and claimed in his lawsuit that he got into an argument with Depp over a particular scene that wasn't working out in Brooks' perspective. He claimed that Depp reeked of alcohol, cussed him out and was later escorted out by security. The legal documents explained that Depp allegedly punched Brooks twice in the ribcage and offered him $100,000 to punch Depp back. The documents state that Depp's actions were 'intentional and malicious and done for the purpose of causing plaintiff to suffer humiliation.' Depp was bringing the wonder woman Camille Vasquez along with Randall Smith to fight this case. Now, that seems unnecessary as the actor decided to wrap it quickly and settle the matter. Some fans are GLAD that he did this.

Johnny Depp 'is tired. He's done', say fans

One user said, "The Johnny Depp settlement with Brooks is not a partial admission of guilt. We don’t know what sort of settlement this is. FFS people. The man just spent 6 weeks in a courtroom facing his abuser… and now you want him back in one? He’s tired. He’s done." Another user wrote, "YES!!! #rockybrooks’ money grab lawsuit is DEAD! A settlement has been reached because as he’s stated a million times; #JohnnyDepp just wants to move on with his life!! (I’m also assuming that RB was probably terrified of facing Queen #CamilleVasquez in court!!)"

One user wrote, "Although there has been much talk that a settlement may happen, I did a playlist of videos on the case so Johnny Depp supporters are armed with the surround facts. This was never more than a money grab and Johnny Depp deserves to move on with his life!" Another user tweeted something along the same lines, "I'm glad he didn't waste his time on this. To get rid of cheap people who only looks for money by paying them, is cheaper than put your pace of mind in someone else's hands. ill-gotten money always turns to dust."

One user wrote, "JD never set out to ruin anyone life. A trial with Brooks would do just that...further ruin Brooks' life. A simple public statement from Brooks I'm sure would satisfy JD. Ben & Camille would shred Brooks. But why so long for dismissal?" Another user said, "I respect that this is what Johnny feels is best for him at this moment & I’m pleased that he can carry on with life & doesn’t have to go through anymore of this crap (as amazing as he looks, I’d be happy to never see him a suit again). They can spin what they want! Johnny won!"
