Johnny Depp's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis marries French director Samuel Benchetrit in low-key ceremony
Johnny Depp's ex-companion Vanessa Paradis is flashing a ring! Yes, the 45-year-old actress tied the knot with a French film director Samuel Benchetrit, in a discreet ceremony, which took place in France on Saturday afternoon. This is the first marriage for the singer and actress, which was attended by her kids Lily-Rose and Jack, who she shares with Depp.
According to a report published by French newspaper Le Parisien, the couple got married in a small schoolhouse town hall in Saint-Simeon, a commune said to be located one hour west of Paris in north-central France. Vanessa carried a bouquet filled with pink roses and looked lovely in a lacy cream-colored gown with an embroidered veil. She further accentuated her look by wearing her hair down, with flowers adorning her tresses.
The couple got engaged last year in November after being romantically involved throughout the shooting of their film 'Chien,' which screened this May at the Cannes Film Festival. Theirs' was a low-key wedding, the ceremony itself was witnessed by only a couple of dozen guests.
Although Paradis and Benchetrit announced their relationship in public last fall, a lot of speculation about the wedding venue had been doing the rounds. Some time ago, the couple decided to marry in a small commune of Saint-Simeon because of the emotional attachment Paradis had with the place, reports People magazine.
According to reports, the singer has a country estate nearby, and until his death last year, her father even ran a small restaurant in the quiet country commune. Paradis, who is considered to be nothing short of a 'superstar' in France, began her career as a 14-year old child pop star after gaining popularity teamed up with international success for her single “Joe le Taxi.”
Paradis dated Depp for 14 years, but the two never actually got around to tying the knot, even after having two beautiful children together. After the couple split in 2011, Depp got married to Amber Heard, who he has since divorced as well.
Depp and Paradis' son Jack was also present at her wedding, even though, it was reported that the 6-year-old had been suffering from severe health problems. In fact, things had got so out-of-hand that Vanessa had to miss her own film's opening night.
“Unfortunately, Vanessa Paradis was not able to join us tonight, she had to be absent because of her son’s serious health problems,” the film’s director said at the screening, reported French outlet Public. Neither Depp nor Paradis has come out in the open or spoken publicly addressing the health condition of their son.
Jack isn't the only one suffering from health issues; even his father, Johnny Depp is reportedly ill too. 'The Pirates of the Caribbean' icon recently made headlines after photos of him, looking shockingly thin and frail, emerged online.
The news that subsequently led fans to worry about his well-being arrived when Johnny was in Europe touring with his band 'The Hollywood Vampires.' For bandmates, Johnny is being accompanied by rock legends like Joe Perry of Aerosmith fame, and Alice Cooper. The band has been globetrotting and has performed in places like Russia and Germany. Fans have expressed concern over how the actor appeared thin while signing autographs outside the Four Seasons Hotel in St Petersburg in Russia earlier this month.
After divorcing from actress Amber Heard, Johnny pretty much sunk into a hole because of the battery and assault issues that the marriage had seemingly become riddled with. Certain media critics have even said that he is going through a spiraling downfall from the uber cool anti-hero that he once was known to be.
Along with that, Johnny is also facing lawsuits from his former bodyguards who accused him of underpaying them with "intolerable" behavior. They also claim that they have had to babysit Johnny's children since he had "spiraled” into a “financial hurricane.”
