Can Johnny Depp sue Amber Heard AGAIN? Actress doubles down on DV accusations
Amber Heard is not backing down despite her recent courtroom loss to Johnny Depp. The actress publicly accused her ex-husband of physical abuse again during a recent TV interview, saying she will "stand by every word of her testimony" until she dies.
Heard, 36, branded Depp, 59, as a "liar" and reiterated claims that he physically assaulted her during their troubled marriage less than two weeks after she was found guilty of defaming the actor by a Virginia-based jury. The 'Aquaman' actress made the remarks during an interview with the Today show's Savannah Guthrie, in which she slammed the "unfair" verdict in the former couple's $8 million defamation trial. Heard also said the jury was duped by her "fantastic actor" ex who had "convinced the world he had scissors for fingers" in a bizarre reference to his leading role in Tim Burton's 1990 movie 'Edward Scissorhands'.

Guthrie, 50, asked Heard what she thought about allegations made by Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez, who became an overnight celebrity after her passionate defense of the actor. Vasquez accused Heard of "performing" on the stand and lying about the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of Depp. "Says the lawyer for the man who convinced the world he had scissors for fingers," Heard retorted. "I'm the performer? I had listened to weeks of testimony insinuating, or saying quite directly, that I'm a terrible actress. So I'm a bit confused how I could be both."
The actress refused to rescind her claims about abuse against her ex despite the seven-member jury ruling overwhelmingly in his favor after finding her guilty on three counts of defamation against him. Instead, she doubled down on her allegations that he was physically abusive towards her and accused him of "lying" under oath when he said he "never" hit her. "He said he never hit you. Is that a lie?" Guthrie asked, to which Heard flatly responded, "Yes it is." She added, "To my dying day, I will stand by every word of my testimony." Heard also accused Depp's lawyers of trying to "distract the jury from the real issues" during the trial, but admitted they had "done a better job of that" than her own team.
Can Johnny Depp sue Amber Heard again?
The actress's renewed abuse allegations against her former spouse have caused many to wonder if she would be sued for defamation again. Meanwhile, her incendiary comments could also thwart her alleged plans to appeal the unanimous verdict in the previous trial.
"As #AmberHeard does an interview defaming #JohnnyDepp it’s true what #BenChew said: 'No one was interested in what she had to say unless she was defaming Mr. Depp....' (Pretty sure she can be sued again after that NBC interview)," journalist Asjad Nazir tweeted.
"Of course, Amber Heard will do an interview. She does not want to move on and she is a liar. Social media did not produce her bruise kit and corrupted photos. SM did not prevent her from seeking medical attention. She’s skating close to being sued again," one Twitter user wrote.
"Amber Heard and her legal team are about to get sued for defamation again if she doesn’t stop. She is doubling down when the world saw how she is the abuser in the former marriage," another added.

During the interview, Heard suggested that the trial had violated her 1A right to free speech, saying she paid the "price" for having "spoken her truth and spoken it to power." The 'Never Back Down' star also attacked her ex's witnesses who testified on his behalf, branding them as "paid employees and randos" and accusing them of "filing rank" and "supporting the person they depend on." Furthermore, the actress doubled down on her lawyers' previous claims that the jury was swayed by social media campaigns.

"Even somebody who is sure I'm deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I'm lying, you still couldn't look me in the eye that you think on social media there's been a fair representation," Heard told Guthrie. "You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair."
