'Fantastic Four': Fans convinced John Krasinski is Reed Richards after actor's meeting with Marvel
Marvel Studios may have shut down production for the COVID-19 pandemic, but that doesn't mean they're not still making plans for the future. Now that Marvel Studios has the rights to 'Fantastic Four' and all its related properties, fans have been wondering just how soon they will be able to see Marvel's First Family on the big screen, and according to rumors, it might just be on the horizon.
Reed Richards began trending online after a rumor site published the news that Marvel Studios had done a virtual meeting with 'The Office' star John Krasinski. A long time fan-favorite for a hypothetical 'Fantastic Four' movie, the rumor was all fans needed to reignite hopes that Krasinski will soon be joining the MCU.
The news comes from Geeks WorldWide, and while no confirmations have been made, the site has a pretty good track record when it comes to getting the scoop on entertainment news. While the report only says that a meeting was held, without confirming any more details, fans online remain convinced that this meeting is the first step towards a John Krasinski Reed Richards casting — and they're excited.
Fans are already starting to cast in the other members of the Fantastic Four, and many pick Emily Blunt for their choice of Sue Richards, the Invisible Woman. "John Krasinski playing Reed Richards would be.......Fantastic" writes a fan, because someone had to say it. "I’m crying. #ReedRichards is trending. He’s my favorite I swear. Everyone else wanted to be Spidey or Logan. I wanted to be Reed. Intelligent, respected, w/ a great wife & family, a skyscraper in the middle of the greatest city in the world, and the greatest villain in comics " posted one emotional fan.
"The internet and I don't always see eye to eye, but John Krasinski as Reed Richards is the kind of casting I could get behind" writes this user.
Of course, it's not Fantastic Four without Sue Richards, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, and fan-casting for the three is in full swing. Krasinski's real life wife Emily Blunt appears to be the most common pick for Reed's wife, Sue, with one fan writing, "John Krasinski as a modern Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic in the MCU is a match made in heaven. While we're at it, cast Emily Blunt as Invisible Woman. It's too good to be true." The fan also posts fanart of the two in full FF costume.
Another writes, "How are people seriously opposed to John Krasinsky as Reed Richards, him and Emily blunt feel like the perfect choice for Reed and Sue. Listen I get it we need representation, I hope we get more, but these are just perfect for this role. They look so much like them."
The castings for Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and even Doctor Doom have been all over the place, but whoever the fans are most excited to see, it's safe to say that interest for a 'Fantastic Four' movie has been vitally renewed.
