Joe Rogan left in awe as Virat Kohli's colossal fan base outshines LeBron James': 'Holy s**t'
AUSTIN, TEXAS: 'The Joe Rogan Experience' is known to deal with a wide array of topics. During a recent conversation, Rogan and his guest Will Harris, the founder of the popular channel 'Anatomy of a fighter', landed on the topic of a professional cricketer with a large following.
Harris and Rogan were discussing the direction the former desires to take with his channel when Harris mentioned the popular Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his massive fame. Harris talked about his trip to Dubai, where he attended an Asia Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan.
'The biggest cricket player in the world'
Rogan was surprised to see that the tournament had more viewers than the National Football League's Super Bowl, America's largest sporting event. “Really?” Rogan asked, before questioning if he meant soccer. Harris retorted, "Bigger than the Super Bowl, more viewers than the Super Bowl." Harris' claim is supported by attendance data. The most viewed Super Bowl of all time was Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, when the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in front of 114.44 million viewers.
Rogan was left stunned when he discovered Kohli has more than 200 million followers, surpassing basketball player LeBron James and martial artist Conor McGregor. Harris told Rogan, “The biggest cricket player in the world, Kohli. I think his name is Koli, K-O-L-I..Look how many followers he got compared to LeBron.” Hearing this, Rogan responded, “Ok, lemme guess..Imma say 95 Million..214 Million?!..Holy s**t. 214 Million!”
Kohli has 256 million Instagram followers and 57.1 million Twitter followers as of now. James, on the other hand, has 52.7 million Twitter followers and 157 million Instagram followers.
'LeBron James would have an unfathomable physical advantage'
In another episode, Rogan also questioned what might have happened had LeBron James chosen MMA over basketball. Since James is 6 feet 9 inches tall, Rogan believes he would have defeated every other combatant in the ring. Rogan said, "I don’t give a f**k what kind of steroids you take, you are never going to look like that. Never. There are human beings who have just the most unfathomable physical advantages."
He added, "LeBron James would have an unfathomable physical advantage over someone who would have an unfathomable physical advantage over you. A guy like that, if he was fighting, everybody would be f***ed! They are lucky, they are God damn lucky there’s that much money in basketball and LeBron James got into it.” However, Rogan's statement invited considerable ire from MMA fans, who argued that just the fact that someone is athletically gifted does not automatically make them a great fighter.
