'The Joe Rogan Experience' podcaster, Joe Rogan stated they used to spend time together in their 20s watching various combat sports and his love for MMA before any of them became famous which left the internet users confused if James is a martial artist.
James, a successful supporting actor, often collaborates with Adam Sandler, an actor and comedian. He won People's Choice Awards for his role in 'Kevin Can Wait' and Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. An actor, former mixed martial artist, kickboxer, and professional wrestler, Bas Rutten was invited to Rogan's podcast show where they discussed James and his enthusiasm for MMA on an old edition of JRE when Rogan revealed the actor to be a tremendous hitter and 'serious' martial artist.
Rogan said, "We were friends in our early, early 20s. We were just starting out... Kevin used to watch all that s**t with me. We used to watch Pancrase and the early K-1 fights and everything, man." He went on to say, "Kevin is a f**king serious martial artist too, people don't realize that. He can hit, man. He's got fu**ing power... He's a good dude. I've known that guy forever."

Rogan, a martial arts competitor, has a 0-0 MMA record and has never competed as a professional MMA fighter. In his early years, he competed in Taekwondo and kickboxing, becoming a full-contact 4-time Taekwondo state champion.
He experimented with kickboxing after his Taekwondo career and finished with a 2-1 record. Despite his passion for the sport, Rogan has never competed or won a Mixed Martial Arts championship. He holds a 10th level Jiu Jitsu black belt as well as a Gi black belt. Rogan retired from combat sports due to frequent headaches from sparring and the UFC's infancy.
