A woman recently took to the internet to announce that her baby boy was due soon and that she intended to name the infant Rogan. This divided the internet users, even though the soon-to-be parents claimed that it was not influenced by podcast host Joe Rogan.

Joe, a comedian, MMA broadcaster, podcaster and former actor, has gained international acclaim for his candid views on his podcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience'. Spotify made one of the most valuable podcast deals in history when it obtained the exclusive rights to broadcast it, as it is consistently the most listened-to podcast in the world.

'Not after Joe Rogan'

A Reddit user and soon-to-be mother posted on the platform saying, "Thoughts on boy name: Rogan." She continued to write, "My husband really likes this name for our boy due very soon. I like it but I’ve never heard it used as a first name and needed some unbiased opinions."

She clarified that the decided name is not inspired by Joe Rogan by adding, "Not after Joe Rogan." Reading this, netizens soon started reacting to the post and giving their personal opinions.

The general view of Redditors was that naming the child Rogan would be a bad decision for a variety of reasons.

'It's an awful name'

Despite stressing that the name was not inspired by the podcast host, Redditors appeared to concur unanimously that it was an awful suggestion. "Even without the Joe Rogan connection, which is strong, I think it’s an awful name. I’m sorry," a user commented. Another Redditor wrote, "Seth Rogan. Joe Rogan. Just an awful name to give your child period." A third person gave their personal opinion, stating, "Absolutely a big no."

According to some users, regardless of what the parents say, people will presume that the name was inspired by Joe or that the parents are fans of the podcaster. A commentator said, "It’s a no for me. I would either assume your huge Joe Rogan fans or that it sounds like Rogaine. Honest truth is not good, in my book. I just would stay away with associating your child with Joe Rogan". Some other users draw analogies to other contentious contemporary individuals. One commented, "Kinda like naming your son “Elon” or “Donald” at this point unfortunately."

The user who originally posted it seemingly did not reply to the thread when this story was published. After the comments, it's unclear whether they'll name their new baby Rogan or not.
