'That got weird': Joe Biden trolled for gushing about ICU nurse who breathed on him to check for a 'human connection'
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA: President Joe Biden has been trolled once again after he gushed about the excellent care he got from the nurses at Walter Reed at a healthcare event in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Tuesday, February 28. Biden thanked the nurses at the beginning of his talk and spoke about how well they treated him while he was in the hospital in 1988 for two potentially fatal brain aneurysms.
"I had a nurse named Pearl Nelson. She'd come in and do things I don't think you learn in nursing school," he said with a chuckle, adding, "She'd whisper in my ear, I couldn't understand, but she'd whisper and she'd lean down. And actually breathe on me to make sure there was a connection, a human connection." Biden, who was a senator then, said Nelson brought him a pillow from her home because he did not find the one given to him to be very comfy. "You docs are good, but if there's any nurses in heaven, they're the nurses, male and female," he said to the healthcare experts.

While addressing the medical experts in the crowd, Biden said, "You know why? You guys allow us to live, nurses make you want to live. I'm not joking." He continued, "You lie there in the ICU, which I've done for a long time, and you look at those machines. And you know the line goes flat that it's over. But you just get tired, you don't care."
The President credited Nelson for rekindling his desire to live. "You're so underestimated," Biden said, while also thanking the caregivers who stood at his son Beau's bedside as he battled glioblastoma and died.
