To enjoy a stable friendship that lasts through the decades is not a mean feat to achieve, especially in the film industry where equations change at the drop of the hat. But ex-brother-in-laws Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck almost made everyone believe that their bond is for a lifetime.

The Oscar-winning duo first met on the sets of 'To Die For.' They lived in the same New York building and would often step out to enjoy the Manhattan nightlife together. Once they even got matching tattoos in Italy. Clearly, it seemed they would never break but they did.  And for the longest time, it was being speculated that the sexual harassment suits leveled against Casey in 2010 was a primary reason for their falling out, but it turns out it could be the divorce. Casey married Joaquin's sister, Summer Phoenix, in 2006.

In a cover interview for Vanity Fair in November last year, the 'Joker' star revealed that he has not been on talking terms with Casey every since he and his sister split. "My sister and him divorced. And I haven’t spoken directly to him or indirectly in a long time. Three or four years," he had said.

The last strand remaining of their friendship — a New York City loft that they had purchased while they were friends — was sold off for $3.135 million, The Daily Mail reported. The apartment is located at Canal Street at the edge of the TriBeCa neighborhood.

Not sure how this would impact the once unbreakable Joaquin-Casey friendship, but it will definitely see an impressive spike in the actor's already an enviable net worth number, which stands at $50 million, as reported by Celebrity Net Worth. He has had varied salaries throughout his career, but if rumors are anything to go by the actor accepted a lower salary for 'Joker' in exchange for profit cuts. The site further explained that if he went for a 5% profit cut, he must have ended up with $25 million in his bank. The film generated  "$1 billion in revenue and $500 million in profits."
