What is Joaquin Phoenix's net worth? A look inside the humble star's massive 'Joker' paychecks
Actor Joaquin Pheonix is a Hollywood veteran. Starting out as a child actor, he's been in movies since the 1980s. When you've been making movies for so long, you are bound to make a few million. How much exactly you ask? You'd be surprised to find out.
Unlike other veterans, Pheonix isn't topping any rich lists just yet. The actor has a modest net worth, and lives an even more modest lifestyle. That means no flashy cars, mansions or helicopters. It's quite surprising, for someone who's been in the movies for over three decades.

Yet, Pheonix could be set to make a huge payload from the 'Joker' sequel. Few details are available, but his reported paycheck is quite mindblowing. Here's a look at Pheonix's net worth and his present assets.
What is Joaquin Pheonix's net worth?
Celebrity Net Worth reports Pheonix's net worth to be around $50 million. A vast majority of that comes from his acting career. Reportedly, he earned just $375,000 for his 2000 film 'Quills'. That shot up to $3.5 million for 'Walk the Line' in 2005. According to reports, he negotiated a lower salary for 'Joker' in exchange for back-end profits. How 'low' was his salary? Variety reported he earned $4.5 million for the film, but did not mention how much he would make from profits.
Whatever he earned, it pales in comparison to the amount Pheonix could rake in from the sequels. Reportedly, Warner Brothers (WB) has offered a whopping $50 million for Pheonix to star in two sequels. That would be his biggest paycheck to date, and is no doubt going to massively increase his net worth. This is just a rumor for now, but it's likely WB will be willing to go all-in to ensure Pheonix reprises his role as the clown prince of crime.
Phenix also made a nice few million from the sale of his SoHo loft. The loft is far from the only listing on his real estate portfolio.
A look at Pheonix's assets
In 2017, Phenix and Casey Affleck put up their $3.8 million SoHo loft for sale. It's unclear how much Pheonix made from the sale of the duplex loft. He also owns two adjacent homes in Hollywood Hills. One is worth $4.835 million and the other worth $1.39 million. He purchased the second property in 2013, which is much smaller than his own villa. It's unclear why he needed the much smaller property, but many have speculated it is to create "a compound comprised of multiple high-priced properties". The 3-bedroom property contains a custom outdoor fireplace and stone waterfall. He purchased his existing villa for $4,835,000 in 2006. By Hollywood standards, both houses are extremely modest.
Phenix's other assets include a Lexus RX350 and a Ducati Desmosedici. The $20,000 bike famously broke down in 2016, and he was caught chilling on the curbside with a cigarette in hand while a tow truck was on its way. Beyond that, there's not much Pheonix owns. The eccentric actor doesn't own a production studio like other Hollywood stars, nor does he have multiple homes across the US, or abroad.
Of course, that could change once 'Joker 2' and 3 are released, with Pheonix making more money than he ever has. But I guess we will have to wait and see. Until then, he remains one of Hollywood's most humble celebrities, worth only $50 million.
