JoJo Siwa’s take on coming out

According to CNN, the YouTube personality asserted, “It's not something I'm ashamed of” adding, I just haven't shown the internet yet.” A large number of her fans believed that the ‘Dance Moms’ alum identified herself as a member of the LGBTQ+ community when she sparked speculations back in January 2021 with her TikTok video. She was seen lip-syncing to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born this Way’. She crooned, "No matter gay, straight, or bi, / Lesbian, transgender life / I'm on the right track baby / I was born to survive.”

JoJo also revealed she was aware that coming out could be a very scary thing. She said, “Of course not everybody in the world is going to accept it right now, but there are so many people that are going to accept it right now. And like I say, even if there's a million people that don't accept it, there's a hundred million that do.” JoJo in her interview also admitted that it was a big risk to come out. “But if I lost everything that I’ve created because of being myself and who I wanna love, I don’t want it.”

Fans give thumbs up to JoJo Siwa

Soon after JoJo’s interview, a lot of her fans took to Twitter to extend their support to the young star. JoJo was soon trending on the micro-blogging site. Speaking on the same lines, one user posted, “I’m not a Jojo Siwa stan but something about her coming out and hearing her talk about “my girl” is giving me a rush of serotonin.” Another expressed, “Nonstop by jojo siwa is my new lesbian anthem.” One individual shared, “Was gonna make some joke abt how jojo siwa has a gf before me but i thought abt how my negative attitude has gotten me nowhere but her positive attitude got her a gf and a career so i’ll sit this one out.”

An excited fan shared: "Anybody else just incredibly happy for miss Jojo Siwa? The absolute joy of it all!"  Another added, “I can't believe that jojo siwa's been out for like two weeks and has a gf and i've been out for like 3 years and I still don't.” The next person said, “Never thought id be saying jojo siwa is my favourite famous person in 2021 but here we are.” Another stated, “It makes me so goddamn happy that kids are gonna have lgbtq+ role models to look up to like Jojo siwa. like seeing that it’s okay to be themselves from a young age brings me so much joy.”

"I'm so glad the kids have her to look up to! One of the reasons I've been struggling so much with coming to terms with my sexuality was because I've never been exposed to anyone or anything related to the LGBTQ+ community. It wasn't discussed in school, it wasn't discussed on + kids TV programs, everyone and everything around me seemed "straight". I'm glad this is changing and children now see that being gay isn't something you should hide from the world but you should be proud of," said another fan calling her a 'role model'.
