JK Rowling came under fire for her recent comments made on social media. Rowling was criticized by people after she shared an article that spoke about "Opinion: Creating a more equal post-Covid-19 world for people who menstruate". She followed the tweet with a comment that read, "'People who menstruate.' I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?" and also added, "If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It doesn’t hate to speak the truth."

Her comments were ripped apart by social media users who were quick to brand her as homophobic. While many people called her out, Halsey also slammed the writer for her comments. "Imagine writing a generation-defining series about a youth uprisal that defeats a tyrannical monster motivated by the preservation of 'pure blood' and looking at THIS time in the world and going 'hmm... yep. I’m gonna invalidate trans people'," she wrote. Halsey has been on the frontline during the 'Black Lives Matter' protests.

She has been asking people to raise their voices and not remain silent as people lose their lives due to the color of their skin. Halsey had even shared a video on her Instagram where she tried to show people what was happening in the country and how media houses did not show everything. "It’s easy from the comfort of your home to watch looting and rioting on television and condone the violent measures being taken by forces. But what you don’t see is innocent peaceful protestors being shot at and tear-gassed and physically assaulted relentlessly," she wrote.

She further added, "This is NOT a virtue-signaling post. But I HAVE to show you what I am witnessing with my own eyes. With Trump's decision today to enforce the mobilization of armed forces on our own citizens, this has escalated beyond your privilege and comfort to not care. Please care. We are begging you to care. This is a war on Americans. This is everyone’s problem. Everyone’s."

Halsey has always been vocal about her thoughts and she did not hold back in calling out our beloved Rowling as well.
