BOISE, IDAHO: JJ's grieving grandfather Larry Woodcock claimed that he was "so glad" his wife wasn't there when images of the boy's disintegrating bones were shown during the murder trial of Lori Vallow. Larry is married to Kay Woodcock, JJ's grandmother who testified in court on the first day.

Larry said that the trial had uncovered evidence that he and his wife "weren't aware of," despite the fact that they led the worldwide hunt for Joshua 'JJ' Vallow, 7, and his sister Tylee Ryan, 16, who went missing in late 2019 and early 2020. Lori, 49, is accused of killing JJ and Ryan while she and her husband Chad Daybell were followers of a sadistic end-of-the-world cult. The couple is also accused of killing Tammy Daybell, Chad's wife. Larry claimed that the terrible photos of JJ that were displayed in court on Tuesday, April 11, represented the "hardest" moment in the case thus far, according to DailyMail.

The prosecution 'have left nothing undone so far'

Larry commended the prosecution for their "spot on" handling of the case and claimed that Lori's defense team had no evidence to "grasp" in order to clear her, according to DailyMail. He stated, "The prosecution, from my perspective, have left nothing undone so far."

Larry continued, "They have been spot on, they have been calm, cool, collected. They have been measured. I think the defense is doing their job. But I think it must be a little bit hard to do a job and what they are supposed to do when there is just not a lot for them to grasp."

'Tuesday was a killer day for me'

Larry said that the trial exposed the "unnecessary death of so many people" in a statement made outside Ada County Court in Boise, Idaho, according to DailyMail. The proceedings on Friday, April 14 included unsettling details regarding Lori's bizarre religious beliefs.

Larry stated, "I have been here since the opening statements and I want to hear the word of everybody involved. There's a lot of things that were brought forth that we were not aware of. Obviously we had not ever seen the hardest part, which was Tuesday. Tuesday was a killer day for me and I'm so glad my wife was not here and didn't have to go through it and see what I saw."

The photographs of JJ's remains shocked everyone in the courtroom, where cameras are not permitted during the trial. The 7-year-old boy had been placed in a black plastic bag after being wrapped in numerous layers of duct tape and was wearing red pajamas, a pull-up night diaper, and a blue child's blanket, according to DailyMail.

Larry credited "God, our family, and justice" with assisting him thus far in the process. He stated, "I think [justice] will all come out. I think this court is righteous and there will be justice." The trial has been scheduled for ten weeks, although it might just take five to eight.
