MADISON COUNTY, IDAHO: Chad Daybell, the alleged 'doomsday cult murderer', apparently expressed his gratitude towards Lori Vallow's brother Alex Cox, who is believed to have helped in the murder of Vallow's two children. In a bizarre 'blessing', Daybell thanked Cox, who also killed Vallow's former husband and allegedly aided in the murder of Daybell's own wife, and stated that he had "assisted us in ways that cannot be repaid."

During the trial, jurors were presented with a 15-minute recording of the "patriarchal blessing" given by Daybell, who is set to stand trial on murder charges at a later date. In the recording, Daybell falsely claimed to be a member of the priesthood and praised Cox as a "great warrior" who was "selected to help protect [his] sister." Lori Vallow is currently on trial for allegedly murdering her two children, JJ Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16. She is also facing charges of conspiracy to murder Tammy, the late wife of Daybell.

Chad Daybell gives bizzare 'blessing'

"You have already assisted us in ways that can never be repaid, but you will continue to do so as you move forward in this life," Daybell had told Cox, as per Daily Mail. Daybell made the recording of the blessing for Cox on November 24, 2019, following the disappearances of JJ and Tylee and the death of Tammy.

'You will be a powerful servant'

In the recording, Daybell claimed that Cox had learned lessons that were not taught in a typical LDS (Latter-day Saints) household. "You had to go to great depths to achieve tremendous heights, and the fruits of those trials are beginning to be demonstrated," Daybell says. "Now you will begin your terrestrial phase of existence. You will be a powerful servant…You will travel all over the world through portals and you will begin to gather the souls that come unto Christ." In addition, the blessing referred to Cox as a "prophet" who would be regarded as an "angel on earth." Daybell also claimed that Cox was "part of a very special team of people." Cox died in December 2019.

During the trial, jurors also heard a recording of a phone call made by Daybell to a funeral home in Chandler, Arizona, just hours after Charles Vallow was shot dead in July 2019. Daybell gave a fake name and inquired about the cost of cremation in Arizona and shipping ashes to Louisiana, where Vallow was born. Daybell didn't mention Vallow by name, but police have previously said it was obvious he was referring to him.
