Jim Edmonds calls estranged wife Meghan King 'disgusting and irresponsible' for alleging he cheated on her with nanny
Jim Edmonds took to Instagram on Monday, October 29, to defend himself against the accusations from his estranged wife, Meghan King Edmonds, that he had cheated on his wife with their nanny.
The 49-year-old former center fielder in Major League Baseball denied all claims of an extramarital affair with their nanny in a long post on his social media page, which is private, calling Meghan "disgusting and irresponsible" for alleging that he had an affair with a girl they had been looking after like their "own child."
"** BREAKING NEWS ** It's one thing to be accused of something. It's another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people. I did not sleep with our nanny. She's not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home. We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child! For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it's disgusting and irresponsible," he wrote.
He added: "Just because I am an athlete and I was portrayed as a bad person on Bravo TV. Doesn't mean I don't have a clue what life is all about. We made a promise to that young girls (sic) mom, that we would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands."
Jim said the situation had gone so out of hand that he could not just sit back "without fighting back."
"Just because you're extremely whitty (sic) and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn't give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse. Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms (sic)way. We all make mistakes. This is not one of those times," he wrote.
Jim emotionally added that he was left heartbroken by the attacks on him if he wanted anyone to feel anything after seeing his post, it was the "truth." His latest post came after he took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to write, "They should make a new law where you can be arrested for making false accusations against anyone!"
The nanny, identified by only her first name, Carly, has also denied the claims that she had an affair with her married boss. "The allegations are completely false," she wrote on social media.
Jim filed for divorce from the former 'Real Housewives of Orange County' star on Friday.
