Jeremy Ruehlemann's cause of death revealed: Inside model's years-long addiction and rehab stint

WALDWICK, NEW JERSEY: Jeremy Ruehlemann, who was found dead at age 27, apparently died of an accidental drug overdose. The update comes after the model's death was announced on January 22, 2023, with the cause of death initially undisclosed. However, Jeremy's father Achim Ruehlemann has now revealed what may have caused the death. He explained that Jeremy had struggled with addiction to the painkiller Percocet and other prescription drugs and had gone through withdrawal in the past. He said, "He did rehab and had tried to get off prescription medication. Obviously, he was not successful."

The 59-year-old father, who works in cosmetics manufacturing, told DailyMail that they are not "100 per cent sure exactly what happened" as they are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests. Speaking about his son, Achim said, "There was no desire to end his life, this was accidental. Obviously he had some issues with drug addiction, but he was very happy. He loved life. He was very vibrant, a wonderful soul and a very giving guy. You could see what people are saying about him on social media."

Death of Jeremy Ruehlemann

NYPD confirmed that Jeremy, who had been living with his mother in upstate New York for a year and working as a bartender at a restaurant in Woodstock, was found at his friend's apartment in midtown Manhattan after police received a 911 call about an "unconscious male" at 9.50 am. Saturday, January 21. Jason Kanner of Soul Artist Management confirmed his death. Jason wrote, "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jeremy Ruehlemann has passed away. Jeremy was authentically himself. Salt of the earth. There was just something about him that made you root for him. His excitement over a big booking, his optimism when something didn't work out. When you spoke to him, he listened with his eyes and ears. He truly was and will always be one of a kind. Jeremy, you will be missed. You will hold a spot in my heart and with your Soul Fam you loved so much."

Fashion designer Christian Siriano wrote, "I have never posted anything like this but to lose a friend who was such a beautiful soul is just really hard. This is for Jeremy, the most beautiful man that gave so much love to everyone he met no matter what. He was one of my muses and he always will be. He inspired me and I will love him forever." Jeremy walked in several Siriano runway shows and also modeled for brands and designers such as John Varvatos, Joseph Abboud, Superdry, Macy's, Zara, Nick Graham and Atelier Cillian. He has also been featured in GQ and Playhaus magazines and collaborated with Superdry and Perry Ellis, Perthnow reports.

Following the update, an individual wrote, "It's hard to get prescription drugs like Percocet or oxy. doesn't appear he was on the street." However, prior to the reason behind the apparent cause of death, many had their own conspiracy theories online after an image of Jeremy getting vaccine shot went viral. Reacting to it, one said, "Absolutely disgusting people are assuming #jeremyruehlemann cause of death was due to being vaccinated when his cause of death hasn't even been revealed. Someone has died and that should be respected not thrown into conspiracy speculation."

One of many asked, "Young people were never in any danger from Covid and they still were coerced to take the jab. How come not everyone on this planet is questioning this?" To which one replied, "Maybe it isn’t the jab? A 2014 review estimated that among athletes ages 9–40 years, sudden cardiac death occurred in 1 out of every 40,000–80,000 people.
