'No love for Jared': 'Jeopardy!' host Mayim Bialik slammed as she snubs contestant despite his sweeping category win
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Jeopardy!’ host Mayim Bialik has been floundering in her duties in the absence of Ken Jennings. Mayim who took the baton from Ken to continue the hosting duties till the end of the summer has landed herself in trouble with the fans of the game show once again.
During the latest episode of ‘Jeopardy!’, Mayim ignored a sweeping victory run of a contestant in a particular category. When such an event transpires, the host usually takes a brief moment to acknowledge the contestant’s impressive run of correct answers. However, it turns out that Mayim was simply not interested in contestant Jared Watson’s spectacular category-winning run. This didn’t sit well with the fans who cheered and were blown away by Watson’s ability to sweep an entire category.
Jared Watson sweeps a double Jeopardy category
Jared, a quality control specialist from Greenville, Texas, lost to Suresh Krishnan, a networking engineer from Suwanee, Georgia, ending his $56,000 run on ‘Jeopardy!’ But before he fell from grace, Jared enjoyed a blistering run in a Double Jeopardy category titled, ‘Books and Authors.’ He managed to earn $6000 as a result which immediately should’ve prompted a response from Mayim. But the host never acknowledged or congratulated him for sweeping a category without any hiccups.
Sweeping a category is a respected and rare feat. The other host of ‘Jeopardy!’, Ken Jennings, whose absence is felt every day, applauded a contestant’s sweeping victory in a ‘Phobias’ category in one of the episodes. Such a feat should’ve been replicated by Mayim but she failed and moved on with the game.

‘Jeopardy!’ fans who were already at Mayim’s throat, received another opportunity to bash her abilities as a host and remind everyone of Ken’s importance. Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote, "No love for Jared running the category of Books and Authors? Jeez...” Another spotted the snub too and said, “For some reason, Mayim failed to give props to Jared on running the BOOKS & AUTHORS category. It was an impressive run since it covered the literary gamut from Bram Stoker to Octavia Butler.” A third fan wrote, “I thought I heard or read somewhere that they're no longer doing the applause/acknowledgment for running categories, probably because of how nearly everyone jumps around the board nowadays.” The winner of the game on the night, Suresh also chipped in to say, “I wondered that too.” Fans who are tired of Mayim’s mistakes and long pauses on the game show will have to wait until September 2023 to see Ken Jennings take over the hosting duties.
