When are the wedding bells ringing for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez? The coronavirus pandemic has halted all plans across the globe and the couple's plans have been quashed. So when is it being postponed to?
Earlier this year, a source told US Weekly that their wedding had been "all planned out and paid for" and "JLo wants to marry A-Rod shortly after things go back to normal. She wants to marry him and celebrate their love in front of her family and close friends."
Date
In an interview on the Today Show, JLo said they have indefinitely postponed the ceremony due to the lockdown. Reportedly, the pair had planned to wed him this summer in Italy after Rodriguez popped the question to him on March 9, 2019, during a beach holiday in the Bahamas. After the Covid-19 subsides, the couple may plan their wedding in 2021.
The Proposal
In an Instagram post, A-Rod wrote, “she said yes” along with a clip that shows the 50-year-old singer wearing the engagement ring. He captioned it, "One year ago on a beach in the Bahamas… I was a nervous wreck, more nervous than my entire playing career, I got down on one knee and asked you a question… you said yes."
He added, "Jennifer, every moment with you is a blessing. You are my best friend, my inspiration, an amazing mother, and a role model to all. Macha, I am so lucky to be with you. Thank you for making my life better. I can’t wait to make more memories with you. I love you."
The Ring
According to Vogue, the former professional baseball shortstop slipped a Vivid Diamonds ring into her fingers which costs up to $5 million (£3.8 million). Said to be an emerald-cut stone, it is estimated at between 10 and 15 carats.
The Plans
"Nobody knows," Lopez said in the same interview. Expressing her dismay, she added, "Really, there’s no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out. It’s disappointing on one level, you know, after the Super Bowl and after World of Dance, after we finished filming it, I planned to take time off, which is what we’re doing kind of right now, but at the same time…we had a lot of plans for this summer, and this year but, everything’s kinda on hold right now.”
Lopez also said she is a "little heartbroken" and a little "what will be will be" about her wedding. "I’m a little heartbroken because we did have some great plans but I’m also like, you know what? God has a bigger plan so we just have to wait and see,” she said. “Maybe it’s going to be better. I have to believe that it will be.”
Who will design the dress?
There is no official confirmation but looking at the singer's collaboration with Versace over the years, the brand could design the dress.
Lopez and Rodriguez are allegedly quarantining together in Miami with children from their past relationships. Recently, Lopez was spotted stripping down to nude lacy bra in front of Rodriguez’s ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, at Alex’s daughter Ella Alexander's 12th birthday bash.
While he is a father of two daughters, Natasha and Ella, J Lo is mother to twins, Max and Emme with her third husband Marc Anthony.
