Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green in the '90s hit show 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S 'was shown to be a daddy’s girl, who feared and respected her father more than anybody else. However, Aniston’s relationship with her father in real life was quite the opposite as he chose to walk out of his marriage and didn’t return for a long time.

Aniston shared a strained relationship with her author mother Nancy Dow as well, which got better at the time of the latter’s death. However, the actress, who had stayed away from her father for a long time, is reportedly ringing him every day amid the novel coronavirus crisis.

"Jen forgave her father for walking out a long time ago. But their relationship has had its ups and downs. Jennifer didn't speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just brief conversations. It's like she has realized life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He's thrilled that they have reconciled,” reports Daily Mail.

Her father John Aniston is a veteran TV opera star, who was known for his role in ‘Days of Our Lives’. He was married to her late mother Dow from 1956 to 1980, before he decided to walk out of their marriage to be with someone else.

However, ‘We’re the Millers’ actress was only 10 at the time of her father’s abandonment and wondered for years where her father was as he suddenly stopped coming home one day.

Recalling the painful memories Aniston shared in an interview how her mother once told her, “Your father’s not going to be around here for a little while.”

Aniston said, “She didn’t say he was gone forever. I don’t know if I blocked it, but I just remember sitting there, crying, not understanding that he was gone. I don’t know what I did later that night or the next day. I don’t remember anything other than it being odd that all of a sudden my father wasn’t there. And he was gone for a while.”

When he didn’t return for a year and a few months after he left, Aniston’s mother told her, “Your father’s with someone else. He’s not coming back.” She also revealed that he eventually married the other woman.

But, when John did return, it marked the beginning of a new life for Aniston. “He just called one day and said, 'Let’s go see The Fantastickes.' So we had a little dinner and saw the show. After that, I started seeing him on weekends, and this new way of life just unfolded,” she recollected.

However, re-working on their parched relationship wasn’t easy as it was all about “pleasing, pleasing, pleasing, everything to please” and mostly from her end.

What made her forgive her father you ask?

Aniston accepts her father wasn’t a good communicator, but, "as best he could, my dad explained and apologized, and it’s enough. We’ve made up. There’s still parts that are hard for me, but I’m an adult. I can’t blame my parents anymore," she explained.

Nevertheless, Aniston laughs about the fact that her father “wasn’t around” to give her the joys of fatherhood and jokes as she says, “don’t marry a Greek man, and just stick around. That’ll do it.”
