Is Jennifer Aniston bisexual and more than just friends with Ellen DeGeneres? They kissed on TV after all!
Jennifer Aniston has never said anything about not being straight when it comes to her sexual orientation, but there are still a handful of fans of her who insist that she is bisexual and might be more than just friends with Ellen DeGeneres. Her close friendship with the comedian was established after she appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' multiple times and even guest-hosted the show once.
The 'Friends' alum addressed the issue of her sexuality during one of her appearances. Following Aniston’s split from Justin Theroux, her second husband, in 2018, rumors started circulating that she was back with her first husband Brad Pitt since by then, the 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' actor was also single. Instead of addressing that particular rumor, DeGeneres prompted Aniston to react on rumors that they were “more than just friends”.
Both of them seemed aware of the rumors about them being romantically involved. Aniston said that in early 1990s when she first met DeGeneres, they spent time with the same people and enjoyed the same music. They have been friends for decades, sticking with each other since the start of their careers to their peaks of fame as well as through various romantic highs and lows.
“The Indigo Girls, Melissa Etheridge, k.d. lang, my best friend Dre was with me always. And I do think there was a moment where people might have not known if I was possibly on your team or not,” Aniston said. She then turned the question on the talk show host, asking her how “you guys” know if someone is gay. This caused DeGeneres to burst into laughter. She did, however, theorize that many fans had “crushes” on Aniston and that those crushes led to the “hope” that she was gay.
Tracing back the timeline to when the bisexual rumors about Aniston started, one can recall a scene from 'Friends' when Aniston as Rachel kissed Winona Ryder. The scene in the cult favorite sitcom was so popular and convincing that people started believing that Aniston could not be straight. What added fuel to the fire was Aniston and DeGeneres sharing a kiss in October last year when the actress appeared on the show to promote her movie 'Murder Mystery'.
It all started with Aniston asking DeGeneres about what it was like kissing fellow talk show host Howard Stern when he appeared on her show. DeGeneres brushed aside the controversy that was created when she kissed Stern, saying that she did not understand why it was shocking for some people to find out that she can kiss guys and she did it casually all the time.
DeGeneres then asked Aniston when was the last time she had kissed a girl. As soon as Aniston admitted that she was not in the habit of locking lips with women, the host leaned forward in a comically dreamy way. After a chuckle, Aniston played along and leaned forward too after whipping her hair to the side. The two briefly kissed as the studio audience squealed in delight. However, as was clear of both their amused expressions, the kiss was staged to raise the TRP of the episode.
