Pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was allegedly "emboldened" to commit his sex crimes after seeing a "powerful guy" like Bill Clinton "get away with" Monica Lewinsky incident, a friend has revealed. The friend shared how Clinton had really not faced any sort of consequences from the Lewinsky scandal, which led to Epstein feeling like he could do "whatever he wanted". Epstein had been accused by many women of sexual abuse when they were minors. He killed himself last year as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges.

But before he was arrested, he had been known for being associated with some of the most powerful people in the world which included Bill Clinton. While speaking to Mother Jones, an unnamed actress who had become close to Epstein during the 1980s, said, "Seeing a powerful guy like Clinton get away with what he got away with."

"I think it just emboldened him to think he could do whatever he wanted," the friend added. In 1998, former POTUS Bill Clinton was impeached after it was revealed that he had a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky who was a 22-year-old intern at the White House.

He had been charged with perjury and obstruction of justice but was acquitted post a 21-day Senate trial. Epstein had been accused of sex crimes starting in early 1990s. Most of his reported crimes had taken place in the various properties and mansions that he owned including his Manhattan mansion, his compound in Florida, as well as his little Caribbean island called St. James.

The friend of Epstein spoke about how his behavior had changed after he started to become super-rich and wealthy. She shared, "When he was younger and living in New York there weren’t a lot of young girls. I could see it progressing as he got older, more powerful, more money." She also described his relationship with his alleged madam and one-time girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, as "key". She said that Maxwell had initially declined any romantic advances made by Epstein but eventually grew emotionally dependent on him after the sudden death of her father Robert Maxwell. "He resented her for rejecting him when she didn’t need him, and now that she did, he was going to exploit it," the friend said. "She used him and he used her, and that’s where this whole sexual production line came in. She needed to be essential for him. (Recruiting girls) is how she kept her place."

It is also believed that Maxwell was friends with Clinton and was even pictured with him on Epstein's private jet. It is also said that Maxwell had attended a dinner with Clinton in 2014 after allegations regarding her role in Epstein's crimes came to be known.

We had earlier reported that Maxwell’s close friend has claimed that the 58-year-old faces strip search every three hours as authorities fear she might kill herself like Jeffrey Epstein. The disgraced financier killed himself in August 2019 while awaiting trial for child sex trafficking charges in Metropolitan Correctional Center, New York. Maxwell is also awaiting her trial as she has been accused of acting as Epstein’s “pimp”.

"She is on her own floor and has a very small cell but doesn’t have a table to put her computer on. I’m told by the family that she has a camera in the ceiling and another camera that is 4 feet away from her and they adjust it when she moves about. They were waking her up every three hours to search her and the noise outside her cell with the guards laughing and joking and yelling to each other is very disturbing, so she hasn’t got much sleep. It’s bizarre," her friend Brian Basham told Daily Mail.
