Actress and radio presenter Jameela Jamil targeted President Donald Trump and asked the public to not let First Lady Melania Trump 'distract' them. The tweet came after #MelaniaTapes went viral on social media. Jameela claimed that the potential drop of the tape that embarrasses the president and the First Lady could be a distraction weaved by Trump.

"Regardless of what she’s done, keep your eyes on her husband as he is the actual threat. Do not let her voluntary or involuntary complicity distract you from the bigger and scarier picture. She’s always pulled into focus in a scandal when he most needs eyes off him. #MelaniaTapes," the 34-year-old tweeted pointing out that it's not Melania, but Trump who is the actual threat, claiming that the Melania Tapes scandal came into light when Trump wanted some of the heat away from him.

As soon as Jameela pointed this out, people began to voice similar opinions, one social media user commented, "I mean I do feel bad for her a little bit because she’s an innocent gold digger who suddenly became the first lady, but also there is so much there and she herself has so many bad views that it’s on her at this point. but you’re right, the one with power IS more important rn." Jameela then said, "But the misogynists who vote for him will just blame her and all the heat over his insane behavior this week is lost to a woman who has no power and isn’t the main threat."

More accusations against Trump started pouring in, as Internet users said, "I had felt sorry for Melania Trump because it was clear to me for some time that Donald was a horrible person and a guy that uses people. Stabbing her friend in the back, and setting her up to take the fall was certainly very dirty," and "However, you are right. Trump with his law and order stance along with his negligence regarding the #coronavirus outbreak, is looking for any kind of cover at this point. He will do anything to stay out of jail and in the WH, even if he has to stab his own wife in the back."

"They were about to be stabbed in the back by the Trumps, so they started covertly recording their conversations with them, to protect themselves," is a refrain we have heard a lot. There must be so many recordings of a Trump being even worse in private out there," said another.

Melania Tapes started trending on September 1, 2020, after a former advisor and friend of Melania suggested that she has revealing audio recordings of her conversations with the First Lady. Writer Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who made the claims, published her first book, titled, 'Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady' on September 1. In her book, she provided a biographical sketch of her relationship with the Trumps. The one-time advisor to the First Lady also provides some salacious details about the First Lady’s relationship with the president, his children and even some of his policies. Wolkoff also claimed in an ABC interview that she can back up all the claims she made in the book. In an interview with ABC, she said, “can back up everything that's in the book, 100 percent.”

Wolkoff said that Melania used a private Trump Organization email account while conducting business in the White House. Melania is also quoted saying in Wolkoff’s book that “They hate him(Donald) so much, they hate on me, too. No matter what I say or do."

Wolkoff worked for the first lady as an unpaid White House adviser but was ousted from the job after Trump's family allegedly set her up as the scapegoat in media reports about 'the inauguration shenanigans.'

The writer told the Washington Post that she felt she needed to protect herself legally, so she started to record her conversations with the first lady, starting in early 2018. She agreed that she could be called “a horrible” person for recording a friend without that friend’s knowledge, but she felt Melania Trump had stopped being her friend.
