Jaleel White wears many hats. He is an actor, comedian, producer, and writer, who is best known for his role as Steve Urkel in 'Family Matters.' As of April 2021, he is an entrepreneur as well.

Through a partnership with 710 Labs, he's stepping foot into the cannabis industry. His line, 'ItsPurpl', is set to launch on April 20 and will be on the dispensary shelves across California for now, Forbes reported.

"The thing that always stood out to me was there no clear brand leader for fire purple weed," Jaleel told the outlet and added: "It made no sense to me, that no company of significance had claimed this lane, so why not me?"

The collaboration with 710 Labs materialized after he connected with the founder Brad Melshenker while traveling together. During the flight duration, they discovered a common passion for cannabis and decided to take it forward. The brand is not known for its celebrity deals and endorsements as it works towards putting together quality products. However, Jaleel's passion and interest in the cannabis industry changed Brad's mind.

“We tend to let the product speak for itself. But over the years Jaleel and I became friends and organically our conversations developed into a project," he said and added: "He was on a journey to find the real Purple Urkel from back in the early 2000s. Not only that, he wanted to find the most flavorful purple cultivars and had been collecting seeds with his friend Sean over the years just for this purpose."

What's Jaleel White's net worth?

To be investing in the cannabis industry one needs to have a solid financial safety net. Given his impressive net worth, it's not too hard to believe why he'd be looking to invest in projects such as these. According to a Celebrity Net Worth report, Jaleel has a net worth of $8 million, most of which came from his iconic role as Steve Urkel in 'Family Matters' and the ones that followed shortly.

He was born to shine. At just three, he landed a Jello pop commercial with Bill Cosby. A few years later, he signed to be a regular cast member of 'Charlie & Co'. Jaleel appeared in 'The Disney Sunday Movie', 'Mr. Belvedere,' 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss' pilot, and 'Jay Leno's Comedy Hour' in 1987 before saying yes to Steve Urkel on 'Family Matters' in 1989.

Although Jaleel's character was written as a guest role, it was made regular after the audience cheered for Steve. Since being made permanent, Jaleel appeared in 204 episodes sometimes even as Stefan Urquelle (Steve's suave alter ego) and Myrtle Urkel (Steve's cousin).

Unfortunately, despite some good work over the decades, Jaleel's efforts have not been widely acknowledged. He told Yahoo Entertainment how he was never invited to the Emmy Awards. "It was pretty much told to us I would be wasting my time to even submit myself for a nomination. It was so normalized you just shrugged it was like, 'Oh yeah, it’s for the white kids."

Over the years, Jaleel has not only invested in his career and businesses but also in cars. Apart from the 1957 BMW Isetta 300 that he drove on 'Family Matters', the '90s star drives Audi RS7 that cost him $260,000, Hot Cars reported. He also owns an Aston Martin Rapide. While his garage is beautiful, his home is even better, glimpses of which are up on his Instagram feed.
