Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith's relationship has become the biggest talking point in Hollywood thanks to slapgate. On April 8, 2022, the scandal took a bigger twist, after an old video of Jada reappeared online. In it, she is heard saying she "never wanted to be married", and cried as she walked down the aisle.

The actress has on many occasions made her feelings for Will quite clear. In one video, she openly says she regretted dating WIll while he was still married. In another, she said she isn't "mature enough" to divorce Will, and believes she never will be able to. The comments have since resurfaced following Will Smith's slap of Chris Rock, which seemed all the more unnecessary after a video showed her laughing at Rock's joke about her.

Jada: 'I never wanted to be married'

The video clip is from Jada's 'Red Table Talk' series on Facebook and was originally released back in October 2018. The actress is joined by Will, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter Willow Smith, as they discuss Will and Jada's relationship and marriage. During the candid discussion, Jada reveals, "I never wanted to be married." In response, a chuckling WIll says, "We only got married because Gammy was crying."

'Gammy' is a reference to Adrienne, Jada's mother who allegedly forced Jada to get married only because she was pregnant with Will's child at the time. "I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just, like, pregnant and I just didn’t know what to do," Jada declared. The comments led Adrienne herself to weigh in, saying, "I remember feeling very strongly and wanting you guys to be married."

She then said, "I do remember (wanting you and Will to get married) but I don’t remember your rejection of the idea of marriage. I remember the rejection of the idea of a wedding but not of a marriage." It appears those feeling spilled over onto the marriage day, with Adrienne recalling, "The wedding was horrible. It was a mess. Jada was sick, she was very unpleasant … She didn’t cooperate with anything."

To that, Jada responded with, "And I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so pissed I went crying down the freaking aisle. I cried the whole way down the aisle." In contrast, Will was extremely excited about the wedding, recalling, "There wasn’t a day in my life that I wanted anything other than being married and having a family."

'This is on Will'

One user replied, "I was at that wedding in Baltimore and it wasn’t horrible. Adrienne wanted them to marry bcos Jaden was in the oven but it was not by force. She was still in love with Tupac who got killed the previous year." Another said, "Unpopular opinion, but I don’t even blame Jada Pinkett, she is who she is and has shown herself several times. This is on Will!" A third defended Will by tweeting, "At what point does will consider a divorce. Homie does everything he can for her and she just hates him." Another echoed that sentiment, replying, "At this point will gotta leave. Wtf is this.."

One person theorized, "maybe Will Smith killed Tupac at this point, we should explore this possibility." Another joked, "God setting up Will Smith to have a villain origin story." One person replied, "Another day Another episode of Jada embarrassing Will."
