Vine star Jack Gilinsky offers to follow fans who tweet his new single 'My Love', sparks Twitter frenzy
Singer and actor Jack Gilinsky, popularly known as one half of the pop duo Jack & Jack who became famous for their videos on Vine, has just released his single 'My Love' featuring Don Toliver.
He tweeted the announcement, stating "#MYLOVE IS OUT NOW!" with links to stream the song and watch the music video. He also added, "following/replying to people who tweet the links with the hashtag #MYLOVE" sparking a tweet frenzy with fans clamoring to get a follow from the singer.
They were so enthusiastic in their efforts that they managed to get the single trending all the way at #2 on Twitter. Some fans did take a moment to praise the song, stating "So amazing I’m so proud of you #MYLOVE." One fan tweeted simply, "mood 24/7," while another said, "ADDED IT TO MY FAVORITE PLAYLIST."
But mostly, fans just wanted Gilinsky to notice them, and many stayed online for hours trying to get the elusive follow. "I REMEMBER CRYING MY EYES OUT WHEN I COULDN'T SEE YOU IN POLAND PLEASE SPARE THAT FOLLOW RN," tweeted one fan.
Another joked, "I won’t start this essay till @jackgilinsky follows me," to which the singer responded "Go start!! good luck. I know it’ll be a great essay."
Others soon grew weary of waiting, tweeting, "It's 2AM and Jack still doesn't follow me, I think I'm going to give up, so..." but had their hopes renewed when Gilinsky responded "Thanks for staying up for me."
Some others weren't quite as lucky. One fan tweeted, "Well, it's 3.03 am and I have insomnia, will I be lucky and will @jackgilinsky see this before I beat my insomnia? Or do I just give up? #MYLOVE."
Gilinsky, after hours of following and responding to fans finally tweeted "Ok guys. I need to sleep. I followed as many people as I could. Gonna do this again tomorrow. It was fun & I’ve missed twitter a lot. Thank u all for your love & support. It really means a lot."
One fan responded, "Jack Gilinsky went to sleep and I haven't, so: CONTINUE LISTENING TO THE SOUND BIBLE THAT IS #MYLOVE," while another said, "@jackgilinsky I know you are nor sleeping so follow me plsss #mylove."
Some continued to hold on to hope, joking, "No one stream my love until g follow me or I cry," and looking forward to the next round of Gilinsky following fans, tweeting, "Like this if G didn’t follow you / let’s hope he will tomorrow guys! Keep streaming #MYLOVE @jackgilinsky."
Others, however, were left crushed when they did not receive a follow for the night, stating "I will not deny that I am a little sad, I thought that today I was going to get Jack to follow me, but well, everything happens for something, anyway, I am very happy for everything my baby is achieving, I follow him from Magcon, I know that #MYLOVE will be a success, good night."
