Ivanka Trump slammed for making her children wash hands with $39 soap as millions lose jobs due to coronavirus
Given that more than 3 million people have lost their jobs in America amid the coronavirus pandemic, many were not very pleased to see first daughter Ivanka Trump supplying her children with expensive soap to wash their hands. Ivanka,38, in an attempt to educate the public on the importance of good hygiene took to social media but many were not having any of it. On March 26, she took to Instagram to share a video of her children Arabella, 8, Joseph, 6, and Theodore, 3, diligently scrubbing their hands.
The children washed their hands as they sang the alphabet. Ivanka captioned the video, "Wash your hands (ohhh…and turn off the sink with your elbow or a towel while you do to save 💦 … still a work in progress with these guys 10 days in 🤷♀️) 💛."
Many were disapproving of Ivanka giving her children a $39 bottle of Aesop soap which features things like "botanical extracts" and "finely milled pumice", reports Hollywood Life. One such user wrote, "They have no idea what it is to be an average American."
While another one shared, "WTF?! Again completely [sic] out of touch with the real world! I stock up twice a year when they have good sales from bath & body antibacterial soaps, hand sanitizer etc. $40 4 soap that cost $2 to make is just ridiculous & the fact that Ivanka is pushing it while people can’t work."
A third user added, "Ivanka Trump posted a video of her children washing their hands, with $39 hand soap. What’s next, tomorrow she’ll tell us to eat $100 cakes?" "Didn't your children wash their hands before now? Mine did," wrote a fourth.
Some users also pointed out that the kids had left the tap running throughout and Ivanka had not stopped them, with users leaving comments like, "Omg look how much water you wasted daaamn." Another added, "Why don’t you teach them to save the water?? It is actually very bad…they wasted a lot of water."
Recently, Chrissy Teigen threw some shade at Ivanka who is an adviser to her father and US president Donald Trump regarding the availability of COVID-19 tests.
Ivanka had shared a picture on social media making a living room fort with her children. She had written, "home today w/ kids? Plan living room camp out! Throw a bedsheet over some taped together brooms. Plan a menu & ‘pack’ sandwiches, salads (S’mores optional." Chrissy Teigen retweeted the post and wrote, "After we quote pack unquote sandwiches can we please have Covid tests. BURN!"
The US government had rejected to use the coronavirus test that the World Health Organization uses and instead had opted to produce tests within the country itself. Many social media users also slammed Ivanka who was dubbed 'privileged' by critics.
"Yeah, no doubt anyone who was recently laid off is really interested in building sheet tents while they try to figure out how to let their family know they don’t know how to buy food, or pay their rent, electricity and water bills… #TogetherApart," wrote one user.
Another added, "Sorry @IvankaTrump we’re not all white rich privileged dilettantes who live in negative-pressurized residents Americans are on the frontlines of @realDonaldTrump’s gross incompetence and mishandling of the #coronavirus #WorstPresidentInHistory."
