Lavinia Trematerra: Girl, 7, CRUSHED to death as 440lb marble statue falls on her in hotel during family holiday
MUNICH, GERMANY: A seven-year-old Italian girl was crushed to death by an unfixed marble statue at a German hotel where she was holidaying with her parents.
Lavinia Trematerra from Naples was playing with an eight-year-old boy in the courtyard of the hotel when the 4.6ft tall statue weighing 441lbs fell on her. The horrific accident took place in Munich, southwestern Germany, on Friday, August 27 around 7.30 pm. Trematerra's father, Michele, a lawyer, was also present in the courtyard when the horrifying incident took place.

Three people walking in the courtyard of the hotel heard the little girl's screams before they ran to help her. They immediately called paramedics after lifting the heavy statue off her. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child while transporting her to a local hospital, where she was declared dead by the doctors.
Police have already launched an investigation and are probing the claims that Trematerra was trying to climb over the statue when it fell on her. A police report read, "For reasons that are still unclear, a stone statue weighing around 200kg fell over and seriously injured the child. A scream made several people aware of the situation and they were able to free the child. An emergency call was then made. The child was taken to a Munich hospital by ambulance, where she later succumbed to her injuries."
The Trematerra family was set to fly home to Naples from across the German-Austrian border in Vienna, states a report by Italy24news. The death of the little girl has left her parents heartbroken. The little girl's mother Valentina, wrote on took to her social media, "You are and will always be our angel. Rest in peace, love of our lives." Her father said, "Our life has changed." Her classmates at the Belforte school center in piazza Europa were heartbroken on learning about her. Diligent and curious, Trematerra was also a good skier, she loved snow, and sports was one of her great passions.
