Claudia Hernandez tortured 3-yr-old daughter to death during 'exorcism', later said 'it is what it is'
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA: A mother allegedly killed her daughter with the help of her father and brother because she believed that the child was "possessed." Claudia Hernandez reportedly tortured her three-year-old daughter Arely Naomi Proctor while 'performing an exorcism' in September 2021 that took her life.
Claudia was reportedly 'helped' by Arely's uncle Rene Aaron Hernandez-Santos, 19, and granddad Rene Trigueros Hernandez, 59, a preacher at a small church in San Jose. Claudia’s mugshot had been released recently after she was charged earlier this year with felony assault on a child with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Her relatives have also been charged this week.

Court documents stated that on September 24 last year, the suspected trio held “Arely down by her neck, torso, and legs for several hours. They attempted to make her vomit by sticking fingers and hands down her throat.” The child eventually “vomited a clear/purple liquid” and became unresponsive. She had “multiple injuries around her eyes, face, neck, and chest,” deputy district attorney Rebekah Wise added in the official papers.
The horrifying details of the little girl’s death were not made public earlier. However, now as the court documents have emerged, it was found they were "performing exorcism" on her because she “would wake up and scream or cry periodically”. The victim’s grandfather reportedly said: “If you read the Bible, you'll see that Jesus casts away demons and made sick people healthy again. It's not when I want to do it, it's when God, in his will, wants to heal the person. The preacher is like an instrument of God; what we do is what God says. It's the stuff of God, and everything is in the will of God no matter how small or big.”
It has also been reported that the people, accused of killing Arely, waited two hours after they thought she was not alive before calling 911. The mother reportedly told police that “no lifesaving measures were performed to help” the little one. “She strangled her multiple times to the point where the victim went unconscious, she stuck her hands down her throat, and continued this course of conduct for almost a full day,” Wise reportedly wrote about Claudia in the document.
Besides, days before the accused mother was charged, she reportedly shared a nearly 45-minute video on YouTube, shamelessly smiling and showing no remorse for her daughter’s death. In the video, she said, “I am at peace, I am happy. The reason I feel what I feel is God. If you don't want to be in my life, that's OK. The only one I need is God. It is what it is.”
Claudia also added: “If you weren't there when she passed away and whatever you want to think, is not valid. One thing I'm not going to do is lie about how she passed away. Everyone wants to know what happened to her, you know, her cause of death. A lot of people turned on me after my daughter passed away; a lot of people thought a lot of things because of how that situation looked. If you weren't there, you don't know what happened. I know what happened. I could sit here and be negative. But there's no point in me doing that. I cannot change what is. It is what it is.”
