'Itaewon Class' Episode 3 sees Park Sae-ro-yi (Park Seo-joon) watch helplessly as his pub is shut down for two months because of an unexpected reason. Surprisingly, the person who has brought upon this problem on Sae-ro-yi is none other than his first love Soo-ah (Kwon Na-ra). She is the same girl who knew of the real killer behind Sae-ro-yi's father's death and despite that, she joins hands with the same man to get ahead in life and career.

Sae-ro-yi accepts that she has to do what is best for her life, yet, he doesn't expect to be betrayed in return for his acceptance. It also seems as if he is still interested in Soo-ah. While another heartbreak awaits him, circumstances also lead to Sae-ro-yi meeting Jo Yi-seo (Park Da-mi), a young student who seems to be going through something traumatic in her life. She is defensive, unrestrained, unapologetic about her ambitious outlook and when she meets Sae-ro-yi, she is shocked beyond her expectation.

Until now, Yi-seo has believed that it was only the end result that mattered. However, when she sees Sae-ro-yi face Geun-won (Ahn Bo-hyun) again and hold his rage in, she has to accept that being ideal, living by a moral code and following beliefs is not just a naive idea that would result in failure. When Sae-ro-yi holds all of his anger in and tells Geun-won that he has a plan, a plan that is 15 years long and has been 11 years in the making, she sees Sae-ro-yi's resolve to exact revenge just as we do.

Sae-ro-yi might not have underhanded ways to go about things, but he has definitely prepared for a tough fight. Sure, the fact that his business will now have to be shut for a couple of months will throw a wrench in his plan, but that is not something that he isn't prepared to face. Even while Sae-ro-yi deals with his employee's mistake that has led to the suspension of his business, Sae-ro-yi is composed. He accepts the outcome and is ready to come up with a plan.

What he cannot stand is being offered help by the one man in the world whom he wants to see punished. This is why when Geun-won offers to help him with the suspension of business, Sae-ro-yi would rather the law be carried out as it is supposed to be, instead of manipulating the law. The power that Geun-won seems to have to affect this outcome also doesn't make Sae-ro-yi happy. He did, after all, dream of being a police officer before he was imprisoned for assault. So the corruption pisses him off more than anything.

His reaction to the situation that he is in is something that Yi-seo is unable to compute because the life that she knows is not lived the way Sae-ro-yi has or plans to continue to live. It would be interesting to see how Sae-ro-yi and Yi-seo's relationship progresses after this and if Soo-ah will have any influence over the two.

'Itaewon Class' episodes can be streamed on Friday and Saturday on Netflix.
