FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CALIFORNIA: Lisa Miller, the mother of South Carolina bride Samantha Miller who was killed in a car collision just a few hours after her wedding on April 28, called out drunk driver Jamie Lee Komoroski who caused the crash that took her daughter’s life. Lisa said it was “not an accident” and Komoroski made a “conscious choice.”

“It wasn't an accident. This person chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and plow down my daughter,” Lisa, who is an addiction specialist, told Fox News Digital. “This is a conscious choice that a young lady made,” she added. Lisa’s response to the crash came after an incident report by police revealed that Komoroski had a .261 per cent blood-alcohol level during the crash, which is allegedly three times more than the legal limit.

Samantha Hutchinson danced with 'the most important person' in her life at reception before she died

Jamie Lee Komoroski: Glassy-eyed driver who killed Samantha Hutchinson can face up to 75 years in prison

‘They both loved incredibly’

While speaking to Fox News, Lisa called her daughter a “free spirit” and shared that she worked in marketing. She also mentioned that her new son-in-law was from Utah and sold construction supplies. The grieving mother said that Hutchinson and Miller settled in Folly Beach to have a “tranquil life together.” “Aric and Sam are definitely soulmates,” Lisa said. “Their hearts were very much alike. They both loved incredibly,” she added.

Lisa recalled that she and her surviving daughter Mandi Jenkins last saw the happy couple when they left their wedding reception under a canopy of sparklers. Shortly after, the newlyweds became victims of the horrific car crash that left Miller dead and Hutchinson severely injured. Lisa also remembered how her late daughter asked the DJ at her reception to announce a surprise dance with the “most important person” in her life, her mother. She shared that the mother-daughter duo had their last dance on the song ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars.

Lisa and Jenkins already returned to their Airbnb when they heard the sirens from the accident scene and listened to witnesses talking about hearing an explosion. “At that moment, I said, ‘Something happened to Sam!’” Lisa recalled. “It was like a really bad movie, a really bad Netflix movie,” the mother added. “We were running down the road toward all these lights… and we just were running and screaming Sam's name,” she added. “Then I got the call from Sam's dad that said, ‘Sam isn't at the hospital. She's still here. She got killed, and I just identified her,’” Lisa remembered while holding back tears.

Lisa also shared that they will not have a funeral for her daughter. “We are having a celebration of Sam just like at that wedding. There are not going to be any people wearing black,” she said. “Because that's what Sam would have wanted,” the mother added.

‘Such a horrible tragedy’

In the wake of the tragedy, social media users took to Facebook and Twitter to react to Lisa’s comments about Komoroski. “I do not blame mom one but for being angry and devastated. The person who got behind the wheel deserves everything she has coming to her!!! She has rest of her life to think about how she took away someone's life and the most beautiful day ever!!!!!! My prayers to you mom of the bride and also groom- never ever ever get behind the wheel,” one Facebook user wrote. “Such a horrible tragedy that should never have happened. She deserves to be in prison!” another commented. “I can’t imagine what your family and her Groom are going through. Prayers for comfort in the coming days,” a third user wrote.

One said, “I agree with her! I say it all of the time! Most, not all, things that happen are because someone is doing something that they SHOULD NOT be doing! This was not an accident! That woman was drinking heavily and KNEW NOT to drive! Prayers and condolences to the mother, husband, family and friends. They will never get over this and it will probably take years for them to be able to function without being in unbearable pain” while another mentioned, “When you choose to drink and drive it is NEVER an accident!”

A Twitter user said, “This is the saddest thing I've seen in a long time” while another stated, “She should get life in prison.” One suggested, “If there is any justice, the driver should be forced to attend the funeral in chains and the family could have some time alone with her” while another mentioned, “Hope this drunk driver gets what she deserves!”
