Jamie Lee Komoroski: Woman who mowed down and killed new bride 'strongly refused' to take sobriety test
FOLLY BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA: The allegedly intoxicated driver who mowed down a newlywed couple as they were leaving their wedding, killing the bride and critically wounding the groom, has reportedly admitted to having two drinks. Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, was "uncooperative" when the police asked her to take a field sobriety test, according to newly published affidavits from the cops who responded to the scene.
When asked what level of impairment she was on a scale of 1 to 10, she replied that she was an 8. Authorities previously said that Komoroski, who was driving a leased Toyota Camry at 65 mph in a 25 mph zone while intoxicated, struck newlyweds Samantha Miller, 34, and Aric Hutchinson, 36, as they were leaving their wedding in a golf cart.

Hutchinson is still fighting for his life at a nearby hospital, while Miller was pronounced dead at the site. Komoroski was arrested and charged with three counts of felony DUI causing grave bodily harm or death and one count of reckless homicide.
Who is Jamie Lee Komoroski?
Komoroski was driving a grey Toyota rental car when she allegedly crashed into a golf cart carrying Miller and Hutchinson, and two relatives just after the couple's wedding reception in Folly Beach, According to authorities, she was speeding at 65mph and braked mere seconds before colliding with the cart, as per the New York Post.
Komoroski has a history of traffic offenses dating back to 2018, according to records obtained by the Daily Mail. The initial incident took place on May 31, 2018, in Horry County, South Carolina, where Myrtle Beach and Coastal Carolina University, which Komoroski attended, are. She was charged with exceeding the speed limit by less than 10mph, to which she pleaded guilty and paid a $76.50 fine. Later that same year, Komoroski entered a guilty plea to a charge of exceeding the posted speed limit while operating a vehicle.
In 2019, she was once again accused of exceeding the speed limit by 10 mph or less. She again entered a guilty plea and paid an additional $76.50. She was cited more recently for failing to use a turn signal or stop signal, and on April 5, she entered a guilty plea and paid a $25 fine.
Jamie Lee Komoroski refuses to take test
According to police documents obtained by WCBD, when officers arrived at the crash scene, they discovered Komoroski reeked of alcohol and she indicated to authorities that her rate of impairment was an eight on a scale of one to 10. According to the affidavits, she reportedly told investigators she consumed a beer and one tequila drink around an hour before the incident. According to papers, she was reportedly wobbly on her feet and "strongly refused and became uncooperative" when requested to complete a field sobriety test. She is now being held in the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
Komoroski could face up to 25 years in prison for the bride's death, as well as a fine of up to $25,100, and an additional 15 years and $10,100 for the grievous injuries caused to the men in the buggy. She could face another 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine for reckless killing, as well as having her license suspended for five years upon her release, as per the Daily Mail.
