Issa Rae is on a roll. The popular actress, who is best known as the lead of the HBO series 'Insecure', is planning to reboot 'Project Greenlight'. That news was one of the many that Rae dropped in her interview with Vanity Fair, while also making the cover of the popular magazine.

Rae has reportedly signed a $40 million deal with HBO's parent company Warner Media. As part of that deal, she'll produce a variety of content for the channel, including a reboot of 'Project Greenlight' that will focus on Black filmmakers. But while she's making waves for her professional endeavors, her personal life is a bit of a mystery. Not much is known about Rae's personal life, but she's reportedly engaged to businessman Louis Diame, who has joined her on the red carpet a few times in the past. As social media is currently gushing over Rae's cover, we thought it was apt to look into Diame and the relationship between the two.

Who is Louis Diame?

Like most high-profile businessmen, Diame keeps a very low profile. His LinkedIn profile is private and he doesn't appear to have a public Instagram or Facebook account. Martha Stewert defined Diame as a 'Senegalese businessman', but not much is know beyond that.

We do know that the couple began dating sometime around 2012, with a Washington Post article describing Diame as Rae's 'boyfriend'. According to that report, he was 27 at the time and even made a guest appearance in Rae's breakout project 'The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl'. Speculation that the two were engaged began in 2019 after she was spotted with a ring on the cover of Essence. Those rumors were confirmed by her co-stars Jay Ellis and Yvonne Orji during the 2019 NAACP Image Awards red carpet.

"We all found out in different ways because we’re all on different text chains. We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways," Orji told Entertainment Tonight. Rae is famously secretive about her love life, telling multiple outlets she doesn't "need feedback" on who she's dating. She also played coy when asked about the ring on an April 2019 appearance on 'The View'. "I’ve got a lot of rings on my finger. I wear jewelry, you know?” she said.

Despite her unwillingness to delve into details, we've got some information thanks to Rae's brother Lamine Diop. Diop told Us Weekly the couple got engaged around the holidays, and added, "She’s so low-key too—for real! I found out, like, a couple days later, so we’re just gonna let her lead the way." He also called Diame "like a brother to me". Beyond that, all we have to go on are the couple's red carpet appearances. They attended the after-party for Insecure's premiere together in 2016, and the Golden Globes after-party back in 2017. The couple was also spotted at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards in 2017.

While far and few in-between, the couple appears to be going strong. Did they get married? I guess we will have to wait for one of Rae's co-stars to spill the beans, because Rae clearly isn't talking.
