Is Sunny Hostin being replaced? Rachel Lindsay fills in on ‘The View’ as co-host skips talk show

Rachel Lindsay took Sunny Hostin's seat on ‘The View’ on July 27 and the other co-hosts gave little explanation for the lawyer's absence

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Thursday’s segment of ‘The View’, things seemed a little different on the panel as only Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Alyssa Farah Griffin were present. Ana Navarro, the part-time co-host, often travels back and forth from Miami to New York, which explained her absence. However, the regular co-host Sunny Hostin was missing as well.

Instead of Hostin, Rachel Lindsay, best known for leading Season 13 of ABC’s ‘The Bachelorette’, joined the co-hosts on ‘The View.’ In fact, Lindsay also sat on Hostin’s chair. To add to the confusion, Hostin's absence wasn’t really addressed in depth by the co-hosts on Thursday’s segment.

Is Hostin being replaced?

Goldberg, the moderator on Thursday, was the one who announced Lindsay joining the ladies on ‘The View’ while she swiftly mentioned Hostin not being present. Goldberg said, “So, Sunny is out today. Rachel Lindsay is here.” Goldberg then introduced Lindsay as they carried on with the scheduled segments with no other mention of Hostin. However, earlier, on July 27, The View’s official Twitter account posted a rundown of the guests and segment for the day, where Lindsay was introduced as “guest co-host.” ‘The View’ tweeted, @TheView is LIVE with guest co-host @TheRachLindsay — coming up this morning: The latest #HotTopics, Former Congressman @BetoORourke joins us, and more.” Lindsay is only a temporary replacement for Hostin, who will be back as a regular on Friday.

Where is Hostin?

Although Hostin wasn’t present on ‘The View,’ she was active on her Instagram account. In addition to posting about dogs on her Instagram stories, she also gave the audience a glimpse into why she wasn’t on ‘The View’ this Thursday. Hostin was still very much on ABC’s studio, but instead of ‘The View’, she was on ‘Here and Now’ with Sandra Bookman to talk about her latest novel, ‘Summer on Sag Harbor’. Hostin posed with Bookman as she captioned the photo, “Thanks you for having me @HereandNowABC to chat all things #SummerOnSagHarbor! @sandrabookman7.” This post explained Hostin’s brief absence from ‘The View.’ Hostin has continued to promote and discuss her latest novel on Instagram, talk shows, and other interviews. Although Lindsay doesn’t have a lot of daytime talk show experience, she does have one thing in common with Hostin. Much like her, Lindsay is also an attorney.
