LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a heartwarming turn of events, a high-school boy recently approached the famous streamer Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo, desperately seeking his assistance in inviting the highly acclaimed Twitch superstar Imane “Pokimane” Anys to be his prom night partner. This bold and courageous move showcases the immense popularity and admiration that Pokimane has garnered, especially among her young fans who long to meet the talented Moroccan-Canadian streamer.
It is no surprise that Pokimane is one of the most popular and most-followed female streamers on Twitch. Therefore, many fans want to meet the Moroccan-Canadian streamer. Despite this, a high schooler took things to another level, hoping to attend his school's prom alongside her.
'I’ll need you to wingman me'
It was during an Anime Expo that this fervent fan stumbled upon the well-known Twitch streamers Mizkif and Emiru. With the hopes of fulfilling his dream, the high-school boy beseeched Mizkif to act as his wingman and approach Pokimane on his behalf. After all, Mizkif shares a close friendship with the revered "Twitch Queen," making him the perfect candidate for this critical task.
“I’ll need you to wingman me. I need you to go like you guys are friends of Poki, right? Yeah like if you just go up to her like you know talk to her.”
Eagerly, the young enthusiast implored Mizkif to simulate a friendship with Pokimane, urging him to approach her casually and engage in lighthearted conversation. The boy's desperation for Mizkif's assistance stems from a previous failed attempt at inviting Pokimane to prom. This encounter marks the second time he musters the courage to embark on this precarious journey, seeking the assistance of a streamer he idolizes.
“I don’t know if you know me. It’s probably on livestream fails, I asked Pokimane to prom all right. Last year, that was me. [But it] didn’t go too well.”
Twitch queen turns down proposal
During a previous engagement at an OfflineTV meet and greet event, the young fan, adorned in a dashing tuxedo, presented Pokimane with a thoughtfully prepared presentation, extending a heartfelt invitation to accompany him to his high school prom. The gesture was met with admiration and appreciation from Pokimane, however, she politely declined, revealing the reason behind her decision.
Mizkif captured a photograph of the determined youth, presumably to later share it with Pokimane. Inquisitive about the true reason behind the rejection, Mizkif urged the high-school boy to divulge the details. With an air of sincerity, the boy admitted that the "Twitch Queen" turned down his proposal due to the age gap between them. Reflecting on Pokimane's sentiment, it becomes apparent that she wished to maintain a level of maturity in her relationships, given her claim of being in her twenties, while the boy was a mere 17 years old.
MizKif also told him it won't work since he isn't 18 yet. In spite of this, the boy was insistent on taking Pokimane to his high school prom. As far as inviting Pokimane is concerned, he said nothing could stop him.
