Trigger Warning: Mentions of suicide

While many idols are announcing their breaks from activities due to their ongoing battles with mental health and anxiety, fans of K-pop are now getting more exposure unlike before, making them further sensitive about the warning signs of suicide in the form of triggering posts from their favorites. Past examples of such instances could be considered as proof enough as to why idols need to be taken care of when they post alarming and cryptic notes on their SNS handles.

K-pop has lost the likes of SHINee’s Jonghyun and soloist Sulli among others due to suicide after their alarming posts were not addressed sooner and their silent pleas for help were left unanswered. On the other hand, there also are some powerful idols who are wearing their scars as badges of honor showing fans how they have overcome their days of vulnerability like former AOA member Kwon Mina. With such examples as a precedent, fans do not want another K-pop idol life to be lost. With After School’s Lizzy posting a cryptic message, fans are worried that this is her cry for help and are rushing to the singer to help her through her mental crisis.

Lizzy posts a ‘goodbye’ message on Instagram

On March 10, Lizzy, also known by her birth name Park Sooyoung (aka Park Soo-ah), took to her Instagram account to share a cryptic post with her fans, causing the entire K-pop fandom to worry about the singer. In the post, Lizzy shared a close-up photo of the animated princess Little Mermaid with a triggering caption with the words, “Goodbye to my life”, and as soon as it was posted, she drew a lot of attention from fans. Lizzy has now ended up deleting her Instagram account which has doubled the concern amongst fans.

Not only her own fans but all fans of K-pop on Twitter are asking for the singer to be checked upon so another tragedy can be avoided when the signs were clearly given. Fans of the singer are now taking to her Twitter account which is still active with the handle @p_Lizzy to send hopeful messages of love to the singer, hoping she does not end up doing something that threatens her safety.

Lizzy edits the caption of her post

Lizzy, who drew attention from a lot of fans who were worried about her, will now sigh in relief. Hours after making the post on Instagram, Lizzy has suddenly edited the caption of her post with a new message that seems like she was originally just trying to put an end to her old life and restart the journey of her new career. In her new caption to the same post, Lizzy is seen saying, "A new look forward to my life in 2022 (Hello)~❤️❤️❤️… Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha," which seems random.

The singer has not reported signing with a new label after her departure from Celltrion Entertainment since August 2021 so a clarification post about her situation could be expected soon

Lizzy’s time as a member of After School

Lizzy shot to fame after her debut in the industry in 2010 as part of the project group After School where she stayed until May 2018. Despite her departure from the project group due to contract expiration, Lizzy is still a part of the group's unit Orange Caramel. In July 2018, Lizzy changed her stage name back to her birth name Park Soo-ah and had been active as a solo artist up until August 2021.

Back in May 2021, Lizzy was embroiled in a drunk driving accident that was caused due to her being intoxicated as it was reported that she rammed her car into a taxi in Gangnam district, Seoul, South Korea. After the said accident, it was reported that Lizzy had her license revoked due to an inspection of a blood alcohol level of 0.08 per cent.
