Is Khalid OK? Singer's fans express concern after Ed Sheeran informs he was in a car crash

During a concert in Landover, Maryland, Ed Sheeran told the concertgoers that Khalid met with an accident last week and was recovering

LANDOVER, MARYLAND: Ed Sheran informed his fans that Khalid was injured in a car accident last week. The ‘Lovely’ singer was all set to open Sheeran’s concert as part of his  'Mathematics Tour' at Landover, Maryland, on Saturday, June 24. The ‘Shape of You’ singer filled in for his injured friend for the opening set and shared the troubling news with his numerous fans. 

Sheeran took to the stage early and informed his fans that Khalid was involved in a car accident and that due to the recovery time, he could not join Sheeran for his Maryland concert at the FedEx Field. However, the ‘Perfect’ singer also shared the positive news that Khalid was recovering. Sheeran said, "[Khalid] was in a car accident this week, he's recovering and we wish him the best.”

The singer also told the crowd, "If people don't know I was going to be the opening act today people are going to walk up to me today like, 'This show isn't what I thought it was. I thought there'd be more fireworks,'" insinuating Khalid would have given a more exuberant performance in comparison to Sheeran’s soulful and mellowed down performance. 

As the opening act was coming to an end, Sheeran sent all his best wishes for Khalid's recovery and hoped the ‘Location’ singer could join him on his next gig at Boston. "I just want to say, before I introduce this next song, that I really hope Khalid gets well soon and that he'll be joining us in Boston,” he said. 

Ed Sheeran’s America and Canada Tour

In October 2022, Sheeran announced the dates of his ‘Mathematics Tour’ that would primarily focus on USA and Canada. During the announcement, he also revealed that he would be joined by Khalid, Rosa Linn, Dylan, Cat Burns, Maisie Peters and Russ on various dates. The tour will mainly focus on his songs from his latest album from 2021, '='. However, he will also be heard playing numbers from his old cannon.

'Khalid got into a car accident?'

On learning about Khalid's accident, fans took to social media to express their shock and concern. A fan wrote, "Khalid was in a car accident omg i’m so glad he’s okay." Another said, "I love them! Praying for a fast recovery!" Another concerned fan penned, "Knowing Khalid got into a car accident made my tummy hurt all day I’m Glad he’s okay."

Another fan wrote, "Khalid got into a car accident??? wtf." Another quipped, "Thankful he’s not srsly hurt but holy shit khalid was in a car accident :( my heart dropped when i heard the news." Another fan shared, "I woke up from a nap after being sick for now 6 days and i wake up to the news of khalid being in a car accident… my heart dropped."
