AUSTIN, TEXAS: On his podcast 'JRE', the world's number one host, Joe Rogan frequently engages in unusual talks that his listeners can't find anywhere else. Once, the controversial podcaster made wild allegations against giant beverage company Coca-Cola for adding 'cocaine' to its formula.

Rogan features various guests who offer an educated perspective on such contentious issues. Furthermore, his visitors are not always subject matter experts but they discuss a variety of topics. After making claims about Coca-Cola, Rogan soon corrected himself.

'This is like the fact'

During the show, Rogan chatted with musician Dave Mustaine and provided listeners with a rundown of the beverage's history. The topic arose when Mustaine mentioned Coke changing its formula and people becoming irritated about it. Rogan reacted by agreeing and adding, "That didn’t make any sense… Do you know the whole story behind Coke and one of the reasons I think they changed it to new Coke?"

Rogan further added, "New Coke, the Coke that you have right now; not new Coke, the flavor. But the Coke that’s available in 2022 – is made with cocaine. They process cocaine. They take out all the cocaine and that’s part of the flavour of the Coke formula. This is like the fact." The 55-year-old podcaster dug deep and went on to say, "It sounds like conspiracy theory. It sounds like conspiracy theory. But if you find the company in this country, that processes the most medical, [and] pharmaceutical cocaine, is the same company that supplies the…"

'The original Coca-cola had cocaine in it'

While Rogan insisted that what he was saying was factual, he appeared to backtrack later in the program, saying that the Coke available today “doesn’t have cocaine in it. But, the original Coca-cola had cocaine in it.” As a result, the UFC commentator stated that today's Coca-Cola is "free of cocaine."

Elon Musk, a business magnate and the world's richest person had mentioned 'cocaine' in Coca-Cola in one of his famous tweets. He wrote, "Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in."

After Ragan's claim, the company responded on its website. It wrote, "No. Coca‑Cola does not contain cocaine or any other harmful substance, and cocaine has never been an added ingredient in Coca‑Cola."
