Is Emily Blunt taking a break from acting? 'Oppenheimer' star opens up about her next career move
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Emily Blunt is reportedly taking a hiatus from acting to be with her children. The Golden Globe Award-winning actress shares her two daughters nine-year-old Hazel, and seven-year-old Violet, with her husband, actor John Krasinski, and the couple celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on Monday, July 10.
The 40-year-old British superstar is presently busy with the promotional work of her upcoming new movie, Christopher Nolan directed 'Oppenheimer', in which she starred along with Cillian Murphy. The movie is set to be released on July 21 this year.
Why is Emily Blunt taking a break from acting?
“It’s one of those things when people are like, ‘How do you balance it?’ I never feel like I’m doing it right, you know,'” the actress said on the Table For Two podcast, released on Monday, while she detailed her struggles balancing work and home life. “But this year I’m not working. I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is 9, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little."
She added, "And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones."
Blunt feels guilt as a mother
Blunt, who is one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, claimed that the projects she worked on last year were “intense” and “time-consuming” and affected both her and her children. “The ones that are time-consuming I think, for me, are becoming few and further between because of just the emotional cost on me, on the kids, on balance,” she continued. The 'A Quite Place' actress said she feels “guilt” as a mother for being away from her children on set. However, she hopes that her girls get inspired by her and “find something they adore doing."
Blunt also spoke about her relationship with Matt Damon
Blunt also spoke about her and Krasinski's friendship with her 'Oppenheimer' co-star Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso in the podcast. "We're like some weird commune," Blunt told host Bozzi during the appearance. "Like I don't ever see Matt Damon not in his slippers anymore, you know. He’s just always in his slippers. I haven't seen him in regular shoes in a long time." She added, "That's because we live in the same building, so we just pop down to see each other."
Blunt said she, Krasinski, 43, Damon, and Barroso grew close after filming 2011's 'The Adjustment Bureau' together. "It’s the best," she added.
