Is Craig Melvin leaving 'Today'? Morning show anchor says he's 'thrilled' to host event away from studio
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Today’ star Craig Melvin has dived into a new career away from the morning show. The 44-year-old shared that he, along with his wife Lindsay Czarniak, will soon host a fundraiser in aid of a colorectal cancer charity.
Craig disclosed details about the charity event in an Instagram post and also shed light on the reason behind his move.
The ‘Today’ star stated that he was doing this in “honor of his brother” and was extremely pleased to have taken up this assignment.
While speculations were rife about his leaving ‘Today’ due to this announcement, neither the network nor Craig have addressed these concerns, thus quashing all such fallacies as there has been no mention of this event affecting his hosting duties.
Moreover, this is not the first time he will be joining the charity event. In 2021, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, the host of the event, announced that Melvin would be joining the Board of Directors of the organization. This has not affected his hosting duties, so it is not likely that he will quit ‘Today’ over this career trajectory.

Today’s Craig Melvin to host a Cancer charity event away from the studio desk
Craig Melvin shared a snap of him and his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and alongside the image, the morning show host gave all the necessary details.
In the snap, Craig and Lindsay can be seen with a mic in their hands as the words, “The Bottoms Up Invitational, Presented by Craig Melvin and Lindsay Czarniak, benefitting the colorectal cancer alliance” are plastered over them.
In his caption, Craig wrote, “Lindsay and I are thrilled to once again host The Bottoms Up Invitational concert and golf tournament September 24-25 in Connecticut to benefit the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.”
He continued, “This event is in honor of my brother Lawrence, who died from colorectal cancer three years ago, and all those affected by this disease.”
“I hope you’ll join us for an incredible concert one month from today with Hootie & the Blowfish, Branford Marsalis, Javier Colon, Chris Barron, Ray Boudreaux, Edwin McCain, and Preston Pohl.”
The TV personality encouraged everyone to get tickets to the event. “Get your tickets or make a donation at bottomsupinvitational.org. We are one month out! Find the link in my story.”
After his post, many thanked him for taking up this cause and shared their condolences for his brother.
Craig Melvin ‘smacked’ by co-host Dylan Dreyer on ‘Today’
Only recently, Craig Melvin was smacked by co-host Dylan Dreyer for teasing Sheinelle Jones during a segment.
While sitting in a mock car setup for a special segment, Craig gave ‘bunny ears’ to Sheinelle, who was sitting in the passenger seat as he sat right behind her.
This act wasn’t appreciated by Dylan, who hit Craig on the back for teasing co-host Sheinelle Jones.
