Is Caleb Farley OK? NFL cornerback's father dies after massive explosion at their North Carolina home
MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA: A home belonging to NFL defensive back Caleb Farley exploded overnight Monday in Mooresville, North Carolina, killing his father Robert Farley, and injuring another.
The property, which Farley had reportedly bought recently, was worth more than $3 million, as per reports.
Where is Caleb Farley?
Kent Greene, a spokesperson for the Iredell County Fire Marshal’s Office, told TMZ Sports that Farley was not a victim of the incident. He was not in the home when it explode, as per the Tennessean.
Greene said that one person died at the scene, while another person escaped with non-life-threatening injuries and went to the hospital.
Media reports said that Farley, a 24-year-old Tennessee Titans corner, was at the site Tuesday morning cooperating with authorities. Farley is currently on the Titans’ physically-unable-to-perform list while dealing with a back injury.
Since the team took him with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Farley’s played sparingly, seeing action in just 12 total games.

Caleb Farley's father Robert Farley, 61, was identified as the victim in the house explosion as per Daily Mail. He was found after the crew searched through the rubble of the building. His death comes nearly six years after his mother, Robin, died in January 2018 due to breast cancer.
Greene said that the investigation into the cause of the explosion was ongoing, but the current focus was on the home’s natural gas lines.
According to WSOC, emergency workers responded to a reported explosion on Barber Loop Road near Old Arborway Road around midnight Monday.
They found one person who had managed to get out of the leveled home. One person was later found dead in the debris who has now been reported as Caleb's father.
Dominion Energy, a utility service, said they are also investigating the explosion that occurred at a “customer's residence,” as per USA Today.

The victims of the explosion were identified by Plum Borough officials and the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner as, Casey Clontz, 38; his son, Keegan Clontz, 12; Heather Oravitz, 51; Kevin Sebunia, 55, Michael Thomas, 57 and Paul Oravitz, 56.

The total reported fatalities are 269 with 1,118 injuries. In 2023 so far, 323 incidents have been reported that includes 13 fatalities and 16 injuries.
