Ireland Baldwin says Kobe Bryant's death inspired her to mend turbulent relationship with dad Alec
Ireland Baldwin got candid on gaining a new perspective to improve her turbulent relationship with her father Alec Baldwin.
As reported by Entertainment Tonight, the model, 24, shared that she had been inspired to work on her relationship with her 61-year-old father post the tragic death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
Ireland said, "(In light) of recent events that have happened within the last couple of weeks, like with Kobe, it's like, 'What's the f***ing point of arguing?'"
"You never know what's going to happen to somebody and it all comes down to love. Let's all just get over it and hug that person you love," Ireland continued.
When asked about the current state of their relationship, the blonde beauty revealed that getting past their differences "took a lot of time and a lot of therapy". Even though the father-daughter duo has worked on fixing their relationship, their physical separation has been very difficult on the two. "I'm here (in LA), he's based in New York, we see each other when we can," she added.
She also spoke about the infamous voicemail that she had received from her father in 2007 where he had called her a "rude, thoughtless little pig". Referring to it, she shared, "We were both in really dark places in our lives." However, she played down the severity of the fracture and said, "I think things being publicized the way that they were made things seem more heightened and escalated than it really was."
The call had been made in between the heated custody battle that had taken place between Baldwin and Kim Basinger. Just last year, Ireland took the mic at the Comedy Central Roast of Alec Baldwin where she poked fun at the call.
Kobe Bryant lost his life along with eight others, including his daughter Gianna, in a helicopter crash on January 26.
