MOSCOW, IDAHO: Among various evidences gathered from Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger's home was “possible animal hair”. This sparked speculations that the hair could belong to victim Kaylee Goncalves’ dog Murphy. Records of evidence recovered from the suspect's home was unsealed on Wednesday, January 18.

"Do we know if BK or his family has/recently lost a pet, specifically a dog? There was a pet hair listed in the recent release, I wanted to be able to check off the possibility of it being a family pet instead of Murphy. Of course I want it to be Murphy's, he would be such an important part of convicting BK. Any way tho, he will always be the best boy. I hope he's also recovering, people often forget animals feel loss and grief as well," a user wrote on Reddit.

"Edit: Those who are saying Murphy can't shed because he's a doodle, he definitely can! I've met multiple full breed doodles that shed. Definitely not like a husky, but it's possible for one little hair to end up in BK's place," the user added. "Second edit: After reading the comments and more deliberation, I figure there's three ways this hair strand could take us. 1) it's Murphy's 2) it's the dog that was skinned (talk about a crazy plot twist) or 3) it's not related to either of these poor babies, therefore probably not important."

"Just to play devils advocate- doodles are known for minimal shedding. Not saying it isn’t his though - hopefully it is," one user said, while another wrote, "Also, dogs tend to shed more when they’re stressed - even poodle mixes."

"K could have been playing with him when she got home or laying with him. Scratching brushing will lose the fur just as humans lose hair. Just not a shedding dog," one user wrote, while another said, "Same dog as Murphy here, tons of dropped clumps and curls from these dogs. They are fine hairs and stick like fuzz to things. If she had Murphy in Maddie's room at any point, there were likely tiny fuzzy curls in that bed."

"Do dogs have hair that have their specific DNA in it like humans do? I’ve never had a dog, so excuse my ignorance. If they found a dog hair at his apartment, can they 100% match it to Murphy (if it is Murphy’s)," one user said, to which someone replied, "I know they can at least tell what breed the dog hair is from. If it's similar to Murphy's, they'll definitely want to match that strand with an actual strand from him."

Meanwhile, Kaylee's ex-boyfriend Jack DuCoeur reportedly created a new Instagram account of her dog, Murphy. The handle garnered over 48K followers in less than two days. The Idaho suspect, 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger, has been accused of fatally stabbing Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, in their off-campus three-story rented home on November 13, 2022. Kohberger was arrested in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, on December 30.
