‘The Eras Tour’ collects a global debut weekend of $128 million

According to Comscore, ‘The Eras Tour’ amassed an astounding $96 million in the domestic market. The passionate Swifties, traveling the globe, contributed an additional $32 million, resulting in an awe-inspiring global debut weekend of $128 million for their beloved artist. This extraordinary achievement shattered the longstanding record of Jackson’s ‘This Is It,’ which grossed $74.3 million in 2009.

In contrast, ‘The Exorcist: Believer’ secured a distant second place at the domestic box office, earning $11 million and bringing its two-week total to $44.9 million, with a global tally of $85 million.

Producer Jason Blum strategically adjusted the film’s release date to avoid direct competition with the Swiftian juggernaut, humorously remarking in an interview with EW, “The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift!” Swift’s cinematic triumph was so overwhelming that no other film dared to open in wide release during the same weekend for fear of being eclipsed by “Eras.”
