‘Leave Britney Spears alone’: Fans slammed for calling cops on singer after she deletes Instagram account

THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA: After Britney Spears' Instagram account vanished, her fans thought there was something wrong. The concerned fans later called the police to her house to see if she was in danger.

The police said that Spears deleted her Instagram account, something she frequently does at some point within the last twelve hours. Fans called the Ventura County Sheriff's Office out of panic over the deleted account because for whatever reason they thought Spears was in danger, TMZ reported.

Deputies from the sheriff's office then went to her home and determined there was no reason to believe she was in danger. It's unclear if they spoke to Spears directly, or if someone else assured them she was OK, as per the report.

Less than two weeks prior to this incident, Spears was reportedly seen at a nearby restaurant where, according to witnesses, she went "manic," upsetting her husband Sam Asghari to the point where he got up and left, the outlet noted as it also obtained a video of the event. 

As per Daily Mail, Spears earlier claimed that she had changed her name to River Red on her Instagram account. She has frequently taken down her Instagram in recent months, and even claimed one time she "accidentally"' deleted her page. The latest deactivation of her Instagram profile as per the outlet is the seventh time she has done so in less than a year.

The 'Toxic' singer, who was released from a 13-year conservatorship in April 2022, uploaded a post, on Wednesday just before deactivating her account for the fifth time in five months, slamming online trolls. It read: " 'Rational people... I had one of these and it disappeared!!! I could sit back and be like MOST and not give anyone anything to think about on Instagram...But interest is what serves most and being good!!!."

The post continued, "Being good can and will wrap things up in a seashell!!! Living the lavida loco life!!! It gets better because that's what I aim for!!! Keep coughing playas and just remember to watch your back!!! Or you might just get caught!!! Yep sucks to be me. Keep talking s**t or maybe it will just rain from the sky!!! Giving someone I love my everything only gives me a dagger in the heart!!! So at this point... I generously serve you my s**t... eat my s**t."

There were mixed reactions on the internet as one user wrote, "There’s nothing wrong with @britneyspears except what was done to her! And what’s still being done! It’s not about the theories, it’s about the care plan! The whole case needs to be looked into by the @FBI but they must not care about #JusticeForBritney." Another reacted by asking, "Can the people who called get in trouble for wasting police time… people get shot in LA and they’re having to knock on Britney Spears’ door because she posted a photo of a Porsche 911 on Instagram."

One user said, “okay.. whoever called the cops to Britney’s home are NOT real fans. real fans will ALWAYS respect their idols' privacy, period. you guys are embarrassing I swear.”

Another user said, “Can people just leave Britney Spears alone and let her live her life? Why would you call the cops to her home after she deleted her Instagram? Just weird. Leave her alone!”
