'Gone too soon': Internet mourns cockroach that made the mistake of climbing the 2023 Met Gala steps

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The largest fashion event of the year, the 2023 Met Gala, had an unexpected guest that caught everyone's attention, including Hollywood superstars in their out-of-this-world appearances. A cockroach was spotted on the red carpet of the ultra-exclusive star-studded event, climbing the stairs.

Social media users were in splits over the viral footage of the insect crawling on the red carpet, which has prompted some amusing comments from fans. As per some hilarious tweets, the insect was included on the list of red-carpet fashion icons, including Gisele Bundchen, Salma Hayek and Anne Hathaway. Although the cockroach made everyone who covered the red carpet very happy, Variety tweeted that the insect, "regrettably", died too soon.

As the cockroach crawled across the red carpet, the audience could be heard yelling, giggling and cheering for movie photographer Kevin Mazur to capture it on camera. "Get a photo. Kevin, get a photo!" someone shouted

Internet mourns a 'fashion icon'

Variety later posted a death notice for the roach, alerting the viewers that it had really died, as a funny follow-up. "It is with deep sadness that we must report the #MetGala cockroach was stepped on. #RIP."

Internet "mourned" the cockroach that made the error of ascending the Met Gala steps. A user tweeted, "We need a moment to process this. RIP gone too soon." Another user said, "That was actually the reincarnation of Karl Lagerfeld." "I want a name and location of the stepper," quipped one user. Another person said, "RIP to a fashion icon." One user claimed, "Another young star gone too soon." "One too soon, best look of the night," remarked someone else.
