Kodak Black's presidential pardon by Trump in 2021
Kodak's remarkable endorsement of Trump is not without context. Before departing from office in early 2021, Trump signed the paperwork to pardon Kodak, effectively releasing him from prison, as per BBC.
This pardon came after Kodak had served over a year of a 46-month sentence for falsifying information on federal forms to purchase four firearms from a Miami gun shop on two separate occasions.
Originally, Kodak's release wasn't expected until 2022, as federal prosecutors had denied his request for a reduced sentence. It was during this time that the rapper made a bold promise to donate $1 million to a charity if Trump granted him a pardon before leaving office.
In a now-deleted tweet, he declared, "If The President Them Free Me, I'm Gonna Spend 1 million on Charity within The First Year I'm Out. That's on Everything."
Since then, Kodak has unflinchingly stood by the former reality television star, even coming to his defense earlier this year when Trump faced indictment for his involvement with Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election.
