Internet hails Shangela's 4th of July post, says 'RuPaul’s Drag Race' star ended homophobia with video
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Tuesday morning, 4th of July was celebrated on social media with many stars taking to Instagram to wish their followers a happy Independence Day. Shangela was among these celebs and his post has been hailed by fans for "ending homophobia."
Independence Day is a federal holiday in the US that commemorates the ratification of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. It was an unpaid holiday for federal employees before the Congress made it a paid federal holiday in 1938.

On the occasion, Shangela took to Instagram to share a reel of him doing a photo shoot with fellow queens. The photo shoot had Diego Montoya in the wardrobe for Shangela and Lushious Massacr for his makeup and Wigs & Grace did his hair. He captioned the post, "America has a problem … but it’s not the Drag Queens. Sending u vibes of love, joy and HOPE today! #LibertyAndJusticeForALL."
According to a complaint filed in May in a Los Angeles Superior Court, Shangela was accused of drugging and raping a former HBO production assistant. Daniel McGarrigle, who also acted in the HBO show, 'We're Here', filed a lawsuit against the drag queen, alleging that the attack occurred after a crew party in February 2020. McGarrigle said in court records, acquired by Deadline and reviewed by Page Six, that Shangela sexually assaulted him in a Louisiana hotel room. Shangela, however, has disputed the charges.

The praises continued as another user commented, "YES MAAAM. you bring happiness to this country." Another person said, "My god that’s a stunning look head to toe."
