MOSCOW, IDAHO: To share an update on the Idaho murder suspect arrest, who is currently held in custody by Pennsylvania authority, Moscow Police Department held a press conference. The Police chief James Fry lauded the ‘significant number’ of tips their office received and credited it for the current arrest. He shared that the department went through 19,000 tips and interviewed 300 witnesses in the process to finally get to the accused, Bryan Kohberger, in this quadruple homicide case in Idaho. “Over 19,000 tips were received with over 9,000 through email, 4,500 by phone, and over 6,000 digital media submissions. Investigators have conducted over 300 interviews,” according to the press release by Moscow Police Department.
The chief made it clear that the investigating team is confident that the 28-year-old, a listed PhD student in Criminal Justice from Washington University is the killer. He added that the accused will be soon extradited from Pennsylvania to Idaho.
Fry also suggested that he believes Kohberger carried the horrific attack alone, after emphasizing that ‘the community is now safe.’ The Police Department made an arrest warrant issued for first-degree murder, and the cops managed to locate Kohberger’s white Hyundai Elantra. The DNA of the suspect was also found at the murder house as per the authorities. The investigating team also believes that the car that was seen speeding away from the crime scene was the same one. On being asked by one of the reporters whether they have access to the murder weapon, the Police Chief said they are yet to recover the murder weapon.

Bill Thompson, the chief prosecutor, said there is a probable cause document that lays out the evidence, but as of now is sealed and will be revealed once the extradition process is completed as per the court order. The statement released by Moscow Police Department read, “The Idaho Supreme Court dictates that probable cause affidavits remain sealed until the arrest warrant is returned to the court. As such, the factual basis of this case will remain sealed until an initial appearance is made in an Idaho court. No additional information can be provided in this case until court files and records are released.” “There will be no bond and the suspect can waive or fight extradition to Idaho. However, once back in Idaho, the court process will continue,” it further read as reported by TMZ.
Apparently, Kohberger is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, January 3, and is currently held without bond. Once again the prosecutor asked the public to keep on sending tips and information related to the suspect.
